2018 Boston Celtics offseason

No way Smart gets wrapped up early, most restricted free agents don't. Unless they get paid big or get an offer. Those offers usually come later in free agency also. Celtics are currently just under $115 million. We can't even match a full mid-level offer without going over the tax line. I don't think that number includes Williams deal yet. So I really hope Danny is working the phones and has Morris trades lined up in case he needs to free up money or to make Smart an offer. We did get rather lucky because I thought the Suns made a ton of sense. Yet they gave an old Ariza 15 million, when they needed a PG a lot more. Maybe the won’t sign Williams since he’s completely immature and unreliable. My god kid.

LeBron James to the Lakers...the whole complexion of the NBA is changing. I got shivers thinking about Lebron and Kawai in Philly. This was a good day for the Celts.

Honest question here, put Lebron on that Lakers team as it currently is and do they beat the Jazz?

LeBron James to the Lakers...the whole complexion of the NBA is changing. The East belongs to the Celtics for the foreseeable future. Awesome. LeBron is probably looking for his last stop before he retires. Wouldn't surprise me if he never leaves LA at this point.

Honest question here, put Lebron on that Lakers team as it currently is and do they beat the Jazz? Yea I think so, rather easily I think. He's still that good. They signed KCP, Stephenson, and McGee also. Bring back Randle, with Ingram, Kuzma, Ball, Hart, etc. They have a good amount of talent, but its young. I do wonder how Ball fits with LeBron, but overall they have talent. I'd also expect a few more veteran signings. Bringing back a guy like Thomas could be massive. The west playoffs are going to be crazy.

Ingram took a huge step, Kuzma just has to shoot now and if KCP is really a good 3 point shooter now then watch out

Based on what you are saying Danny might as well just trade Morris as it seems like the only way they sign Smart. He should be a big part of next years team, after that who knows. IMO Smart is going to want more than what the C's can afford to give him long term so sign him to a deal that works accordingly.

I don't know, I don't see much to get excited about on this team but I've been down on the Lakers young talent for quite some time. While I love Ingram, I don't see anything to write home about on anyone else. Kuzma is a nice scorer, Randle is a very nice role player, I don't feel it with Hart or Ball. I think there's still a trade coming.

But you don’t need stars with LeBron just capable players. To get past the unimpressive Pacers, the Raptors that fear Lebron like he's John Wick and the Celtics missing their two top players.

That’s true for peak LeBron, but he’s not going to be able to be peak LeBron for 36+ minutes and 100+ games a season going forward. Even if just in the regular season, he needs players capable of picking up some of the slack.

I guess I'm confused because your question was about the Jazz. A team that is just like the Pacers, not can he beat the Warriors or Rockets. Which is a totally different question.

So yea I think your a little low on some of those guys. For example Randle is a beast, not a nice role player. It should be more than enough talent to beat all but the top teams in the West.

No matter how you cut it up between teams out west the disparity between East and West right now is as bad as I have ever seen. Which is good news for the C's. The playoffs are going to be a big dogfight for the Warriors while the C's, if healthy, will have a cake walk in comparison. This tilts the advantage a little bit for the C's if GS has to play a bunch more tough games.
Jalen Rose, who I have begun to like his insight, made a list of the best players out west and in the east. He had Tatum as his 12th best player in the east btw. But other than Giannis and Kyrie nobody from the east even makes the top 20 from the west. That is crazy and not exactly good for the game. How many sub 500 teams from the east make the playoffs this year?
More good news, the only team that could compete with the C's is Philly. And they don't look like they are going to be able to add anyone of significance to close the gap considering the C's added Hayward and Kyrie to the team that beat them in the playoffs.
The C's could win 65 games next year.

Whoah. Lakers renounce Randle and sign Rondo. Ball is definitely getting traded.

I would love if the Celtics could create room to sign Randle. Impossible if he’s getting more than midlevel money.

This is a weird roster Magic has put together. LeBron isn’t a very good GM. I was looking forward to him with the young kids, including Randle.

Wow not sure how Rondo is better than Randle. I'd offer Randle full mid-level money all day long.
Are the Lakers already starting the stupid dump all young guys and only have older vets thing every LeBron team does? To just dump him for the right to sign Rondo is crazy!

I guess I'm confused because your question was about the Jazz. A team that is just like the Pacers, not can he beat the Warriors or Rockets. Which is a totally different question. Although they had the same record, the Jazz are much better than the Pacers and more importantly their ceiling is much higher considering the team is led by a rookie. They are only getting better and they had the second best defense in the league as it is. And they have probably the best coach in the league other than Stevens. That Lakers team was 11th in points last year and its crazy young. They'll get better and should have the same team basically adding LeBron. So yea I think your a little low on some of those guys. For example Randle is a beast, not a nice role player. It should be more than enough talent to beat all but the top teams in the West. Yeah I really don't think so. They were 23rd in the league in offensive rating and while I like Randle, he played less than 27 minutes a game on a bad team. That's role player, one that I'd absolutely love to have, but a role player nonetheless. Frankly they were passable because Walton is a great coach, but we all know how much Lebron listens to coaches.
