I want to know what’s happened to the offense since the All Star game. Just turgid. Mookie has dropped close to 20 points in his batting average since that time. I'm so stupid.

Mookie delivers just what the team needed...nice inning by Thornburg too. All's well that ends well!

And to think that we're 1-1 in our last 2 games, but it really felt like we were 0-3.

A lot of extra effort tonight. Betts walks it off but if not for Raf...

How big would it be if that HR gets Devers streaking

Yeah!!! Thank God for Rodney's crappiness (Thanks Devers) and Mookie's greatness.
They gave that game away and stole it back. Most years that's a loss. Nice that they get to celebrate after three nights being on the edge of victory and coming up empty.
I'll chalk the Kimbrel thing up to being overdue - he had converted 23 straight saves. Still I'm annoyed that he screwed Sale out of the win. I know wins are old fashioned and mean litte - but still Sale deserved it.
Good for Thornburg for coming up big in the 10th. Thankfully the game didn't come down to Kelly having to come in.

Also, I’m pretty sure I saw E-Rod in the pile at home plate. Maybe his ankle is doing better

Seriously, I’ve been watching the Sox for a LONG time, and Mookie’s the most electric position player in my lifetime. With all due respect to Yaz, Lynn, Boggs, Nomar, Manny...Mookie does everything as well as any of them, or better, and he does it ALL. What a joy it is to have this guy on our team.
Edit: OK, he’s not quite Boggs with the walks or BA, but damned if he doesn’t look like he might be soon enough.

The rest were great baseball players.

(I hope that satisfies the quota!)
Thornburg got hammered six days ago and then we read that they had found something to fix in his delivery. The next night he was electrifying: seven pitches, seven strikes, a K and two popups.
Over the next four days he rather mysteriously got to face a single batter. Who he struck out.
Tonight he was still their fourth or fifth option, but he looked very sharp again, hitting the glove with fastballs and throwing at least one curve that maybe ought to be illegal.
He's thrown 79% strikes in these 3 outings while fanning 3 of 7 hitters and not giving up a hard-hit ball. I hope they immediately bump him up the ladder to at least third in the pecking order. I like Brasier, but he's not this good.

Thornburg is our major league reclamation project and Dalbec our minor league one.

Edit: OK, he’s not quite Boggs with the walks or BA, but damned if he doesn’t look like he might be soon enough. Mookie is electric. No doubt about it. Trout might well be the best player in the game or maybe not - but if the season ended today Mookie has to be the MVP. I was going to argue your choice of electric position player but that I reconsidered - I guess technically DH is not a position - so Big Papi was excluded from your survey. For me he was the most electric offensive player - of course if we said pitcher Pedro would be the man. But Betts is special. I just hope he doesn't lose MVP votes just because JDM has been so awesome, too. And even though he won't get many MVP votes, if this was a season where Mookie, JDM, and Trout weren't having the seasons they're having, Chris Sale would be a candidate. He's been awesome. Really the Sox have 3 superstars on their team and some really great players like Benintendi and Bogaerts and Kimbrel, too (just not tonight) and a lot of other solid players.

The good news here is that Brasier was also a lot better than his line looked. The double was off a 97 MPH fastball that the batter was late on and then got lucky with an opposite field wall ball. The error was the error and the single Nunez should have been able to beat the runner but is way too slow turning to throw on balls to his right (or the pivot for that matter.)

In a perfect world, Nunez, 2019 money and a balancing prospect will leave with the Twins and Dozier and 2018 money stays.

How big would it be if that HR gets Devers streaking They're the best team in baseball with a so-so Devers and Bradley. And they start Eduardo at 2B most of the time. The fact that there even is some clear room for improvement is astonishing.

One of the things I love about this board is that when I'm feeling old (I'm old enough to have booed Reggie Jackson in person, up close and personal), that the rest of you make me feel not so old.
Thanks, fellas.
Great win tonight. I'm thinking Mookie Betts may be the best I've ever seen play for the home team. I'd sure like to cash his checks in a couple years. I so hope that they have Mr. Henry's name on them.
