The Patriots finally are making pressure on the D-Line. Flowers is finally getting some help in there.
Watson is mediocre though, guy making poor throws all game. This game will be over by the end of the third quarter.

Tre Flowers is having a heck of a game. What a football player he is.

Don’t forget this Houston line is one of the worst in the league AND it’s injured.

What a ugly fumble by McCarron. Lol, the Texans don't try a onside kick. Thanks a lot.

Wasn't able to watch the game. 3 sacks and more importantly 12 QB hits is a ton. We might go the rest of the season without getting 12 QB hits in another game. Kinda surprised at that number when Watson is a mobile QB. Dorsett put up impressive numbers, which is huge! Patterson unfortunately was as I expected, more rush attempts than targets and only one kick-off return for 19 yards.
In all it was a good day, a win is a win. This team should get better as the season goes along and players get healthy, come back from suspension or rejoin the team hopefully like Matthews.

I would never make any predictions about a team after week 1. Teams barely play their starters in preseason anymore and offenses are very vanilla when they do. So they aren't anywhere close to being in top form to start the season, but that's better than exposing anyone to more injuries.

I'm only asking because you make it sound like there was some recent shift, but this preseason was just like everyone we've had for the past 20 years. My memory gets foggy when we get into the Bill Parcel and Pete Carroll years because I was a teenager in high school. So why can't we take as much from this game 1 as we have every game 1 under Bill?

We can take the fact that Dorsett is a legit receiver from this game.

Hightower is not playing very well right now. It’s early and he’s coming back from injury, but the reports from preseason aren’t good on him either. Whether or not he rounds back into form could be the key to how good this defense is or not. Also of note is he is no longer a captain. Is that a sign of his slippage?

If they win next week at Jacksonville they're in great shape, going 2-0 vs two good teams without Edelman, and the Bills are so bad they look like they could be very close to two free wins. When Edelman comes back this offense should be very good again.

The game next week will be an interesting test for the OL. The Texans rush is great, or usually is, but it's hard to put a lot of stock into some week 1 performances. Were the Texans rusty? Is the Pats OL that good? If the trend continues next week, we probably have our answer. That Jacksonville defense is no joke.

Hopefully the Pats will have the advantage they showed in the game against the Texans all season, getting to the QB and protecting Tom. It was the biggest advantage in the game and with Watt and Clowney they are so slouches. Jville will be a big challenge on the road.
Doesn't Dez really want to be a Patriot!! Intriguing

The downside to tough games at the beginning of the year is that we're not at the top of our game. The upside is the other teams aren't either. Maybe we can catch the Jags before their offense gels.

Next man up. Probably Webb, although he's not a between the tackles runner. Looks more like a Lewis type.
The thing about baseball, you don't look around to see who's out for the year after every game. I think every guy who's ever played, from high school on, comes out with some kind of life long injury.

Intriguing Signing Dez at this point is almost similar to a team signing Moss after the Pats released him. He's not worth the headache and really hasn't been for 4 seasons now.

I think the fact that no teams are showing Bryant love is a wake-up call. If you remember Moss had that while in Oakland. He was very good for a few years before the old Moss showed back up. So I wouldn't worry about Bryant being a headache. He'd be cut and that would be that. The question is more can he help you and get up to speed, lets say before Jordan Matthews can come back. I'm not so sure, he needed a full training camp. Look at Patterson, Brady doesn't like guys that don't run good routes. So he'll be a specialized guy in our offense. He could help us if he accepted like a 4th receiver role. A guy that is a deep target and an end zone guy. I just don't see him accepting that, but who knows. Maybe he just wants to win. If so he'd have to take a Veteran minimum deal, knowing he won't just be handed a starting spot! Then work harder than he ever has. If he did he could really help us. You know Josh could design plays especially in the endzone to help us. Hill is a bigger loss than it might seem. I wouldn't add Webb because I agree he is a smaller RB, you need a bigger RB to fill Hill's role. I'd go sign Josh Adams off of the Eagles Practice squad frankly. www.nbcsports.com/philadelphia/eagles/rookie-josh-adams-may-have-edge-battle-eagles-4th-running-back-spot-preseason-finaleHe's a bigger RB, but he can rip off long runs. He looked good for the Eagles and was the first player they signed to their practice squad. If not him I'm looking at everyone available, including trades. You can't really count on Michel right now and Burkhead and White aren't close to being full-time RBs.

Patriots release McCarron, Hansen, and Hill to IR so we now have 3 open spots. They are also bringing in Corey Coleman for a workout. They brought in Kendall Wright last week and he would seem like a good fit.

Maybe it's crazy because he's a DB and might not have good hands, but I'd love to turn Crossen into our punt returner.

Reminded me of the Chris Harper muffed punt that cost us home field in 2015. That team was so damn good at the beginning of the season they just suffered so many injuries. The team was honestly reminding me of 2007 at the beginning of that season when Brady dropped a 50 burger on the Jags in week 2.
