We didn't need to win tonight but, it's big because Sale gets 4 days rest instead of 2. Absolutely huge. Sale-Kershaw might be the best matchup (in terms of their career performances) of the century to start a WS. Provided Kershaw starts, that is. As for how it plays out...I’d love to see a vintage 1-0 duel go the Sox’s way. 2 HOF talents no doubt squaring off would be awesome.

I kinda feel like this entire team will consume about as much as Jonny Gomes did personally at the same point in 2013. Remember bare-chested Mike Napoli roaming the streets of Boston like a paladin? Man those were the days.

AJ Hinch is classy in his post-game. Very complimentary of the Red Sox.

Well, JV is a shoe-in; Price a long shot but not out of the question.

Sheffield thinks the Red Sox are more healthy? Ya mean like Chris Sale?

AJ Hinch is classy in his post-game. Very complimentary of the Red Sox. He's had some pretty reasonable complaints, too, and hasn't gone that route at all. The Astros really lucked out with the LaRussa/Stewart Diamondbacks not being able to get out of their own way. Not sure it's quite a Browns firing Belichick level thing, but firing him seemed like a mistake at the time and is even more obviously so in hindsight.

Is it to early to request the staff to put up the RED SOX WORLD SERIES thread? I don't care if it isn't populated with any of the normal data. I just want to stare at the header and grin stupidly.

This is Awesome, grats to the Red Sox and to us the fans. I hope this ride continues. I would love to see us versus the Brewers so we can say we beat the three best teams in Baseball. Now off to bed, night all!!

If you play the 2013 season ten times, I bet they go under .500 three of them and win 88+ in one of them. When people talk about a "team of destiny" THAT was a team of destiny. Sometimes everything goes right, even things that shouldn't and reinforce bad decisions, but you just get to ride the goodness. Saltalamacchia, Gomes over Nava, WORKMAN BEING ALLOWED TO HIT IN THAT WORLD SERIES GAME AND THEN ONLY PITCHING TO ONE MORE BATTER I AM STILL YELLING ABOUT THAT. This 2018 team isn't a team of destiny, this is a team of outstanding talent, evaluation, and coaching.

I'm ok with Price's contract no matter what if he can pitch like this in the WS

I just love how many guys have made contributions that feel like they really kept the Sox afloat: Eovaldi, Price, Porcello from the pen, Beni’s catch, Mookie’s throw, Devers’s homer, and on and on...

I'm not even a little scared about a NL team. I think this team will inevitably be World Series Champs.

Kershaw at his best was, to me, in a trio with Pedro and RJ as the most stupefyingly dominant pitchers I’ve ever seen. Not the incredible velo, but an arsenal of elite pitches he was constantly tinkering with from different arm slots and breaker shapes, and Maddux-level command. Sale is more funk and controlled velocity with that wipeout slider and nasty low three-quarters delivery.

So happy for David Price tonight, for a guy whose teammates clearly love him, who clearly cares about winning, and clearly has struggled emotionally with the negative perception he's received tonight must feel so good. Right...and what's nice about them clinching now, and having some days to wait, the local and national media, will certainly be filling the space, at least in part, amplifying Price's performance, and, if they bring home the WS, he'll be joining the likes of Lackey & DLowe, with similar unanticipated pitching brilliance in WS runs...

The mid season pickups of Pearce and Eovaldi were just absolutely perfect. And Kinsler’s contributed and really showed up a dicey 2b.

I just finally feel redeemed that David Price who eliminated the Sox in 2008 in the ALCS, put the Sox in the World Series in 2018.
Life is ironic.

I'm not even a little scared about a NL team. I think this team will inevitably be World Series Champs. The Dodgers, with Kershaw, Beuhler, and Ryu are very dangerous. Though I like the LHSP strength for the Sox. The Dodgers’ lineup is definitely susceptible to lefties. And with Sale, Price, and Rodriguez, the Sox have three very good ones.
