Not sure if this was mentioned previously but I believe Jack Flaherty, Lucas Giolito and Max Fried all pitched in the same HS rotation.

Apparently the new Angels manager will need sources:
T.J. Quinn @tjquinnespn BREAKING: Angels employee tells DEA about extensive opioid use with Tyler Skaggs, that he told two team officials about Skaggs' abuse, and named other players as having used opioids, sources tell OTL.

That was sorta telegraphed when they fired Ausmus after one season. I don't particularly care for Maddon but that feels like a good fit.

I’d like to see the Angels become more competitive. Trout has been the best in baseball for a while now, and he spends most Octobers at home.

He is dumb as a door. I can’t think of anything to say, speechless in the face of blind ignorance.

The statements just released by Taubman and Jim Crane just make it so much worse. Yikes.
How in 2019 are people still doing the "I'm sorry if you were offended by my actions" apology? Good grief.

My browser seems to not be working properly as I was unable to read the apology to the writer. Anyone else have that problem?

So the Astros' response was to essentially scream "Fake news!" followed by having Taubman trot out that chicken s**t statement half-apologizing for using "inappropriate language"? Is this for real?

We don't know if this is truly the complete story though? There are two sides to every argument, the other side is that Osuna was being hounded by the press about his performance that night. That Taubman was trying to stick up for him pitching bad... If that side is added we can all decide if it was bad language he said or other things some reporters said about Ozuna that set him off. I'm not taking any side here as I don't like Osuna anyway but we also know that reporters try to blow things up for clicks. Also what did the other reporters back up anyway... was it that he shouted Thank God .... f------ .... Ozuna (that we already know)? Seems to me there are two viable versions out there ... as always there are two sides to a story and the truth usually is somewhere in the middle.

Read this article and you'll see it's clear that Taubman's version of events makes no sense. And there seems to be lots of reporting verifying that interpretation.

The NPR verification of the story is more damning than the original SI article. Taubman should be fired.

David Ross has been named manager of the Chicago Cubs. I don't know what kind of manager he will be but what a fantastic choice. You couldn't ask for a better person.

So David Robertson really just skipped a step by getting TJ surgery beforehand.

Jayce Tingler is getting the Padres job.
So much more interesting than Girardi. The Joe Maddon hiring is different, becuase while he ultimately wore out his welcome in Chicago (and arguably in Tampa before that), he's a good, successful manager who has almost always gotten results. I wouldn't have brought Maddon in for the Padres job, but for a team that is closer or might need more of a sudden direction shift than a long-term solution? Yeah, I'd hire him.
What's Girardi's deal, though? I can't figure out what he did a good job as while managing. He mishandled the Derek Jeter farewell (choosing to keep batting him second and play every day at the expense of the team making the playoffs), used his relievers in highly regimented roles, had a very mixed record developing young players, had poor relationships with management... I just don't get his appeal.
I don't know if Tingler will be a good manager, but he has a chance to be. With Girardi, all you're getting is a caretaker. And Tingler has the coaching and organizational experience you want, which for me would put him ahead of a David Ross. I love David Ross, but I'm very wary of players with no experience coaching and even more wary of managers trying to coach the dudes they played with. Is David Ross the right guy to handle Jon Lester only being a five-inning starter at this point in his career? I want him to succeed so I hope so, but if I'm the Cubs I'd like someone with a little bit more distance.

Passan reporting that Astros have fired Taubman.
EDIT: Looks like Houston HAS apologized to the writer now (removed my original comment).
