How has Devers made so much hard contact this year with zero homeruns? seriously how? he has been awesome and this makes no sense. lol Too many line drives and ground balls. But he hits the ball harder than just about anyone.

Who’s this Mantle person? Is he some kind of really good hitter like Ted Williams? (Please choose appropriate superstars in a Red Sox discussion forum.) eek you are absolutely right. ugh shame on me :-( All good. I’m just messing with you. It was so easy that I had to take advantage of it.

Remember when 3B was an offensive black hole? Me either.

I wonder if Porcello gets another inning. With the score being what it is, got to focus all the mojo on the Celtics.

Can we send Jackie down to AAA on a rehab assignment at this point? Call up Rusney!!

Rick Porcello’s ERA has dropped almost two full runs tonight. Not sure if that says more about how brilliant he has been tonight or how poorly he’s pitched previously.

Can we send Jackie down to AAA on a rehab assignment at this point? Call up Rusney!! We’re watching a fun game here. Please stop. In in case the question wasn’t rhetorical, “No, we can’t.”

Legendary start by Porcello (for this season).
ERA went from 7.43 to 5.52 in this game.

Chris Davis has been unquestionably the worst player in baseball since the start of last year, but you could make an argument that Nunez has been the second worst. -1.8 bWAR, -1.0 fWAR in that time. A .280 OBP can't cut it, and his "versatility" that has been more a curse than a blessing because of Cora's willingness to play him at second base, a position he can't handle. You can't carry 13 pitchers and a bench of a backup first baseman, a backup catcher, and an Eduardo Nunez. How ironic is that statement when thinking about Nunez actually pitching an inning for us?

Here comes Thornburg for his once a week inning appearance.

DFA Thornburg. It's time. He's giving you nothing at this point. I think it's going to happen when Nunez comes back.

Stout work by Porcello, even if he was leaving that slider up a bit in the later innings.

I can't believe they have to warm up Matt Barnes right now. You had one inning Thornburg with a 5 run lead.

Ok.... unpopular opinion, but Thornburg seems to have regained his fastball and has a good curve. Maybe he can still work himself into form? I think it is too soon to give up on him.

One of the best outings Porcello has had since his CY campaign. And we needed it.
