Listening to the Rome radio cast at work, and Casas just hit a home run to CF. The announcer said that rarely do balls leave the yard in Centerfield, and the first ball to the batters eye this season in Rome. I've never been to Rome's park, but it must have been crushed.

Not Houck's day, he's leaving after 2.2 innings with a couple of runners still on base. McGrath on in relief.

I'm starting to get a tingling sensation about Casas. My excitement is beginning to percolate

2 run single for Casas to put Greenville back ahead. He's 3-4 with the HR and 4 RBI now.

Rollercoaster of emotions. Finish the Laurila piece on Houck and then call up today's box score.

Brandon Howlett hits his second home run of the season, really great day for the bats in Greenfield.

Casas is mashing lately and Howlett seems to be finding himself a little bit too. Love to see it.

Watched parts of the Greenville game (archived).
The three HRs were all off a lefty. According to the announcer, coming into today, lefties had only allowed 2 HRs at home all year.
All 3 HRs were smacked.
Casas, long fly over the batter's eye, just to the right of dead center. 1-2 count FB, middle middle. It traveled 419 feet, no EV given.
Marrero linedrive to dead left. 408 feet 101 EV. 2-0 FB (iirc)
Howlett's HR went to left center, 1-1 FB. Flyball type that traveled 441 feet, no EV given.
Other.
Howlett made a wow play/throw early in the game (it went for naught as the second baseman dropped it for an error).
Casas if fluid for a big guy and has a strong arm for a first baseman.
I didn't watch all of Ward but he was different than I was expecting from his season stats. I was expecting effectively wild but that wasn't what I saw. When he threw strikes he was hitting the catchers mitt.
Logan Browning with an outstanding outing. He came on in the eighth, 1 out runners on 2nd and third. He got 5 outs perfect. Hefty lefty "throwing BB's for strikes.
ADD: Both starters seemed to work at a decent pace and the Braves RF is packing a cannon.

It's not like Brock Holt or even Mookie Betts can luck into hitting one that far. (pretty sure I'm right about Mookie never hitting one that far)

LOL, the announcer used the word 'yowza'.
I'm going to go out on a limb here. Down the road, he's going to be known more for his skills than for his tools. There's just something about how he works offensively and defensively that makes it hard to believe he's only 19. Eventually he's going to be the one who controls his at bats, not the pitcher.

Casas is carrying a 2:1 career GB:FB ratio, so there’s definitely room to improve there. With his raw power he should certainly be elevating more. Idk what the folks who’ve seen him in person would say, but I wonder if he’s trying too hard to pull and rolling over a lot of pitches. That said, if he finishes the year with a .252/.322/.505 triple slash (0.070 IsoD and 0.253 IsoP), and roughly 40 doubles/25 HR, I’ll be pretty happy. Given how he’s done lately, after a real slow start, he seems a fair bet to surpass that line, too.

Jonathan Diaz is throwing what looks like a slider to righties that looks solid. Getting swings and misses or weak contact out of it.

(pretty sure I'm right about Mookie never hitting one that far) Saw Howlett in the GCL last year. He looked comfortable and in control of the AB. He displayed power to the pull side in what was limited observation. So, the results this year are not surprising to me. I think that this guy is a legit prospect.

Duran doing Duran stuff. 3 linedrive singles (left, center, left), groundout to second, strikeout swinging. No stolen bases but 2 runs scored. He got three extra bases via a throwing error on a pickoff attempt, a passed ball and a fielding error in center field.
Marco continues to be too advanced for the league is now hitting .339 and Cosart putting together a fine year but at 25 is getting long in the tooth.

Not sure how I didn't notice this, but Casas now has as many homers as strikeouts in May.

I'd like to see one on Duran but haven't been able to find one now that MLBfarms no longer does them.
