Everybody knows Nelson de la Rosa, but who is Karim Garcia?

I'm not sure Devers would have made that play a year ago. He's improved immensely at 3B. He's achieved Beast status. Suddenly locking him up seems more important than locking up Mookie.

Chavis, Devers and CVaz powering the O. Mookie may be breaking out.
Now...if we can just solve our Nunez problem...😀

Its amazing, like clockwork Chavis goes 1 for 4 with 2 strikeouts but still manages to impact the game in some way.

I have to wonder when they start thinking about Marco Hernandez being the every day 2B instead of the 3rd option?

How is Torres in the All-Star game and Devers is not?

How is Torres in the All-Star game and Devers is not? Devers doesn't have 12 home runs against the Orioles like Torres does.

Super impressive grit shown by the offense tonight. Hernandez comes up clutch!

I meant to say earlier that the Blue Jays lineup is no joke the last two times they faced them. They're going to be really good for awhile. It's all about the pitching regarding when they'll be a division threat.

About to be .500 vs the blue jays. Anyone who thinks this team is a playoff contender is kidding themselves. You can't predict baseball.

Amazing thing here - Workman has 8 wins, tied with ERod. Pen has 21 of the team's 46 wins.

Nice win but when is Betts going to wake up from his bad dream. It's been a really long time since he's been himself. Have there been any theories as to what is going on with him ? It just does not seem possible he's not snapped out of the funk which dates back to last year's post season.

It just does not seem possible he's not snapped out of the funk which dates back to last year's post season. I see some signs of him coming out of it - some hard hit balls on a line, finally. To me, Benny is more of a mystery - beautiful swing, so many hard hit balls last year...he just is having issues making hard contact (or, really, any contact - his K rate is high)

It just does not seem possible he's not snapped out of the funk which dates back to last year's post season. Maybe you were watching a different game than I was? He crushed the ball three times. A few degrees difference and those were hits. He was on the back side of the BABIP distribution tonight and that happens. After last year there are adjustments to be made, so he's taking more walks and working on hitting to the opposite field. It's part of the game.

"thinking about Marco Hernandez at 2B" ------------ FO prob believed that by now the L/R platoon at 1b would be back and Chavis would return to 2B. That likely won't happen now and I wonder what the status of Moreland is? Both (Pearce) have another year on their deals. I don't see a place for Hernandez other than U/PH.

Good comeback win. The Jays have an even worse bullpen fortunately.
Watching the game I'm always amazed that Chavis doesn't get more high fastballs. He can't catch up to them, but the offspeed in the strike zone, he absolutely can crush. He's done it enough that he might whack 30 homers this year.
Cora is awesome but I'm always befuddled by his knee jerk reaction to HAVE to pinch-hit for Holt with Nunez anytime a lefty gets in the game.
Nunez cannot hit lefties. The numbers bear that out. He can't hit righties either anymore. He flat out should not be playing.
I know they can't platoon two lefties, but at some point he needs to let Holt play against lefties and he must give Marco Hernandez Nunez's ABs.
Hernandez needs more playing time. He's flat out better than Nunez at this point.
But I'm preaching to the choir....
That was an impressive opposite poke off of Giles who for some reason the Sox usually do some damage against. I was just hoping the bullpen wouldn't give it back yet again and Workman was able to escape with the help of an awesome defensive play by Devers who might not have made that play earlier in the season.
Devers is an all-star on both sides of the ball. Why he isn't on the all-star team, I have no idea.

Owings was a -0.8 WAR player in his last MLB year and had a .702 OPS vs RHP Dalbec and Chatham are both in AA so they would likely need significant adjustment to MLB pitching, and 40 man spots. So yeah, there's a gap. At the very least Hernandez should be getting more time than Nunez. And they need a 4th OF for the bench.

Who would have thought that JD and Mookie would be our 4th and 5th most valuable batters at July 4th? Cvaz, Devers and Bogaerts ahead of them. 2019 has been a weird season.
