JBJ takes a lot of heat, but he could beat his HR/RBI numbers from last year by a good amount. If JBJ hits nearly 20 HRs, drives in 65ish, and plays great D... isn’t that worth some respect? In 2009 maybe

6-6. One more hit ties the record, correct? I'm sure our bullpen will give him another chance Apparently, Johnny Burnett went 9-11 in an 18 inning game in 1932. I missed that one.

Never in doubt. It's clear Cashner is the closer.

Cashner seems like the kind of moron that would make an ok closer
98 with that slider/change up was an interesting combo

Kinda bizarre game, Ringo game again (it don't come easy), but we'll take it!
We used 3 starters in the game, best reliever blew a save, 6 hit and 3 baserunnung out and key error Raffi, a JBJ Homer...entertaining, frustrating, and very 2019! 😀

Cashner reminded me of Okajima tonight with that split/change. They look alike as well. The comparisons can't be more obvious. Future closer for the next 3-5 years!

Yet another example of it NOT being our year. We are a talented team playing very poorly...the story of 2019, with so many "microcosm" games. 22 blown saves ( but some here don't see that as an issue!) i'm not saying BP is not a problem but for what the Red SOx paid to start the season For the starters how do you think they performed vs what they've been paid?: These are the top 5 starters salaries: Price $31M, Porcello $21.12M, Eovaldi $17m, Sale $15m, and ERod $4.3M? For the bullpen: The highest salary is Matt Barnes at $1.6M. Based on the bullpen salary -- In your opinion who has performed worse in relation to salary being paid? The starters or the bullpen?

Starters by far biggest disappointment. Their short starts put lots of pressure on the pen. Probably impacted the hitters as well, in terms of having to dig out of so many early holes.

It's a apples to oranges comparison. Every single member of the bullpen is either arbitration eligible this past year or pre arbitration eligible. If the Sox would have spent more than 1.75 million for Tyler Thornburg, then you could have a argument. They both have underperformed. Matt Barnes has been very underwhelming in a year where the Sox were banking on him keeping his elite status in the AL. There have been some bright spots here and there that you can point to and feel good about in the bullpen, but same could be said about at least one guy in the rotation in Eduardo Rodriguez. Eduardo has already been worth whatever the Sox gave him in arbitration this past year, yet you shouldn't point to it because he's just in his arbitration years.

Ouch lol, against Bieber too. One of the best in the AL this year. Talk about a getaway game, for sure.

Agreed. Marco is a pure hitter. He gives some of the best at bats in the lineup. He deserves to play everyday for the rest of the year and see if he sticks. One of the few storylines you can look to and point to in regards to looking forward to the future in 2020.

Stating the obvious: one of the great offensive nights in RS history. Make this one run hold up? Hope so. Devers was the 5th guy in the 5 years of Statcast to have 5 balls with an EV of 103+ in one game (Max Kepler, Matt Olson, Nelson Cruz, Paul Goldschmidt).
Devers' deep funk lasted 10 games, a bit shorter than the 12 that Manny usually had. He hit .146 / .163 / .317.
In his last 4 games he's 11/20, 5 2B, HR, BB (.550 / .571 / .950). Ten of his 17 balls in play have been 101+.

Ummm... 6-6 with 4 doubles? Yes please. Speaking of Nomar Garciaparra in another thread, first 6 hit game for the Sox since Nomar in 2003. Nomar was such a good hitter back in the day, you almost forget how good he was in his prime. I hope Devers has the same kind of hitting prime as Nomar back in the day, only hope that it lasts longer.

In a different publication, I saw that quote printed as "every single ball was a stud missile," which I think I like even better.

My impression is Devers only has problems when he chases. And I don't think he does not know the strike zone. It seems he is just being aggressive and trying to make something happen in situations where he's being given nothing to hit and the team overall needs a jump start.
