They had the lowest defensive total points total in their history. Did that make them a great defense? No. They were good not great. A few guys had standout years. But I never bought into the idea that this great D could carry them where their offense no longer could.
I think they will get by the first rd. But only if they are in a better frame of mind then they were yesterday. And play more like they did 2 weeks ago. But are they physically up to that? IDK. Brady looked hurt.

Age is there but I think Brady's elbow is really wrong. I think they could win with 80% Brady but they are running at 60% with age and injury.

LOL, Patriot fans are worse than Yankee fans. Patriot fans know the end is coming for this ERA. Brady is 42 years old and he's declining to a rate where he can't throw anymore, due to injury and maybe age. After Brady is gone, no one will have to worry about the "spoiled Pats fans," they won't be around anymore because this team won't be relevant and no fun to watch.

On a day where any good Patriots feelings are much more nostalgia than potential for this season, let's remember how the other half lives.
On opening day 2020, the Browns will have their 4th coach in 26 games, and 8th in a decade. The Giants will be on their 5th coach in 6 years. Mike McCarthy and Ron Rivera are the top pro candidates after failing to innovate or grow post-superbowl berths earlier this decade. Sean McVay went from wunderkind whom everyone wanted to emulate or poach to ? Jason Garrett lasted 10 years but somehow underachieved every single one and failed to make a conference championship; I'm assuming he's gone. Who knows about Marrone/Lynn/Gase/Patricia, who have a total of 9 years with their current teams. 21+ teams will have switched coaches over 4 seasons. Sean Payton and John Harbaugh each have a single season with more than 1 playoff win; Pete Carroll has 2. Andy Reid is 2-5 in the playoffs with the Chiefs.
If this is truly who Brady is at 42+, I'm okay with a mutual decision to move on and have an invigorated Belichick at the helm. Sounds like McDaniels will be gone, so the offense will probably go through the same transition the defense has the last 2 years (and did well doing it).
"Everything ends badly, otherwise it wouldn't end!" Cocktail

Exactly Mobaz, that might be the future of the Patriots soon enough. Cycling out head coaches once BB retires and recycling QB's like plastic bottles. It took the Patriots franchise 5 decades to find a really good one (next QB). So this should be fun to wait for the next one to come (sarcasm).

Last post until the game on Saturday night most likely, but seeing the point spread in this game will tell the story. If the Pats are favored, it won't be by a ton. I think the Pats will win against the Titans, but I see them winning ugly.
The Pats road to the superbowl will be through the Titans first at home (which won't be a cake walk). The Chiefs on the road (which sounds unlikely to win). Then it will be against Baltimore on the road (which sounds impossible to get there, nevermind win). Then the superbowl. Yeah the odds are completely stacked against the Pats and Brady isn't healthy. Sorry no good news and that's just the way it is.

LOL, Patriot fans are worse than Yankee fans. I don't get the comments about Brady, I get that he hasn't been good but Jesus it's like people forgot Peyton's last season. THAT'S what being washed up looks like.

We still have Bill and some ballers on defense. Our division is still trash, say what you will about the Bills but its hard to see us dropping out of the playoffs. We’ll be a second tier team without Brady but I don’t see us dropping out of being a playoff team. There are too many shitty teams in the AFC and our division. The friggin’ Raiders were alive until the last week this year. The Steelers almost made the playoffs with their third-string QB.

Either way, that's exactly who the Pats were their entire existence, especially with Bledsoe around. A good second tier team. They made one improbable run to the superbowl and that was that.

This is a very disappointing loss. I was with family and not able to watch the game unfortunately, but I only was able to go to a home playoff game if we got a bye, so it really sucks.
That being said, both the Chiefs and the Ravens are better than us and to win the Super Bowl we have to go through both of those teams as well as a very good NFC team. It would’ve been much more do able with a bye but it still would rank among the toughest paths we’ve ever had. We barely won the Super Bowl last year even with Gronk.
Now our tight ends are complete garbage, a concern many of us on here had earlier that they didn’t draft any. Edelman is our only reliable receiver. Its a sad commentary of where we’re at that I’m scared of the Titans right now. Its unlikely we would’ve won the SB even if our defense had shut the Dolphins final drive down and we secured the bye. We’re trending down but at least we don’t have any bad contracts other than Antonio Brown’s 4M in dead money.

Why is it that Gronk had a league deadline of the end of November to rejoin the Pats but the Seahawks signed Lynch for one game + the playoffs?

Until Belichick retires I'm definitely not closing the door on more Patriots Super Bowls, and it sure feels like he's motivated to continue for the foreseeable future. There's no doubt they need to start retooling and getting younger, but I don't know why anyone would expect them to be mediocre or worse going forward as long as Bill is here.

Gronk filed retirement paperwork so he's retired, and the deadline to unretire was Nov 30. Beast Mode was a FA on the street, and hadn't filed retirement paperwork, just never got around to signing anywhere.

But Bill has got to start nailing the top of the draft. Sony runs like a 3rd round RB, (Wynn's issues not his fault), Harry had negative value year 1. Malcolm Brown was the other most recent 1st rounder back in 2015, and he didn't even warrant a 5th year option. Other rd 2-3 picks burned on Duke Dawson, Tony Garcia, Derek Rivers, Cyrus Jones; Damien Harris & Joejuan Williams have been year 1 no shows (Chase looks good and Joe Thuney was a find in 3rd round). And no second rounder this year plus whatever punishment comes out of Spygate 2.

Yeah they need to stop burning second rounders on terrible guys in the secondary.

Chad O'Shea fired as OC by Miami. Guessing he's a McDaniels replacement if he leaves. But Kenyan Drake's ineffectiveness and ensuing juvination in AZ stands out.

The last couple of pages is why this Country hates Patriot fans. I certainly get being disappointed, but the rest is kinda crazy. Go look at Miami, this shouldn't have been a shock, they are not the same team that started 0-7, they are 5-4 since then having wins against the Colts, Eagles and now Patriots. They will be a playoff team next year. Florres looks like a good coach that can coach up talent and get them to play hard.
Call me crazy put I kinda like it. People are going crazy acting like it's already over. Just what Bill loves to motivate his players and they needed it. Plus we don't have tons of injuries, yet could use extra games for Brady to get on the same page as his young WRs. The D is still the most talented I've ever seen a Patriot team have. The league adjusted, now it's Bills time to adjust.
Think Positive we get four playoff games instead of three.😁

If Brady got to spank the Steelers one last time I wouldn’t mind losing the bye nearly as much.

It has been a great run but it is over, had to end at some point thanks for the memories Pats!! This was meant to be sarcastic, guess I wasn't negative enough. Toms era does look to be closing maybe another yr and it has been a great run. As for how good they will be after depends but probably a 2nd level playoff team as you guys have said. The big thing I think is important is will Bill be able to get the team to buy into his coaching and maintain that level of focus and drive to win. Tom has been a big part of that for a long time and players are spoiled more theses days.
