2019-20 Boston Celtics Season

If the outside shot is legit then there's just no way to stop him. I don't remember seeing a guy that beastly since Shaq. That's the only question about him. I really got into watching Duke last year because he's so fun to watch. Tacko was almost holding his own against him in the first half of their tournament game, but then it was all over. Plus he seems like such a good kid. Zion is a class act person and teammate. It that you ever truly know these guys but I feel pretty good saying so.

This team loses its composure at lightning speed.

What a win tonight! Not the prettiest game ever lol but nice stuff all around to get it. That's a BAD MAN offensive rebound by Smart to seal it.

I feel like Semi is going to be one of those guys that 8/9 years into his career he’s going to be looked at as a consummate pro and a really effective player. Maybe even a starter somewhere. The pieces to the game are all there they just aren’t cohesive.

The Heat were 23-2 at home before last night and we won without Tatum and Kanter.
I still don't get how they have that record.

The pieces to the game are all there they just aren’t cohesive. Semi is a consummate pro and a great defender. He's kinda like Smart he can guard a ton of positions and do it really well. He's increased his 3 point percentage, yet has an 8.2% usage rate. It still blows my mind he was the go to scorer at SMU. The tools are there, he just looks kinda lost of offense, like he's afraid a few missed shots mean he'll get pulled by the coach. Yet our coach is Stevens and he never does that. I say it every year, he could breakout and become a very decent two way player. Think Theis, but can make threes. It just never happens. It's like he needs a bunch of games in the D league or on a crappy team to get his confidence up. It's not talent, it's seems more mental with him.

I think they have more talent than we give them credit for and they are a good collection of hard nosed defenders and they have a bunch of guys who can knock down 3s at a high rate. In the regular season that adds up to a lot of wins... add the Miami affect on visiting teams and it’s a good recipe for success especially at home. Also, Bam Adebayo has broken out and is a borderline stud. He’s averaging 16ppg, 10.5reb, 4.7a, plus over a block and steal per game.

You see that pass he made last night to Theis underneath? Caught it and passed it before he hit the ground. That’s confident play. I agree with everything you said - that’s why I said it would take so many years to get there. This is likely his last season in Boston.

I don't know about that, I'd rank them 6th in the East based on talent. Good team, but clearly outplaying their talent level so far. The East is loaded with talent in a way I haven't seen in a long time. It's going to be a slugfest in the playoffs.

I’m just saying they aren’t a collection of Butler plus scrubs.

Miami is better than they played last night. The Celtics match VERY well against them though, they guard zone A LOT and the Stevens offense is basically built to murder zone defense. I think they're in the mix for that second tier in the East, obviously below the Bucks. 2-6 seeds are pretty much equal, not sure I'd give the advantage to anyone. The Pacers have really impressed me as well, once Oladipo is back that team is going to be impossible to stop.

Watching a healthy comfortable explosive Gordon Hayward is a pleasure. It would be nice to see what he looks like after a full healthy 3-4 months of action with his team.... or a few years...
I think I forgot how good he really is and he can do it so efficiently without the need to be the focal point. Keeping him long term should be a priority.

He's money with the mid-range....and the quintessential Celtic. It's a cliche I know, but I love the unselfishness of the entire team. There's no look at "me" guy...and this is the mindset I grew up with that made watching the team so much fun. We could beat clubs with perhaps better innate talent with that style. Let the other teams have guys that "fiddle, diddle, and daddle", or the "tricky dribble" types. This is so much different than the Irving pall...fresh, pure, country air.

Just be careful calling a white guy a quintessential Celtic. It’s not really fair since they’ve hardly been a racist organization but it gets painted that way. Or at least the city does.

Well with January pretty much behind us, I thought the goal should be to go .500 with the injuries they had and that brutal, brutal schedule. They went 9-7. I thought they should also get healthy and it looks like that happened too, hopefully Kanter is back soon. Now all they need is a scorer off the bench and let's make a run at it.
Pretty good stuff overall. Rough, but they toughed it out.

You find something Remotely racist by connotation or otherwise in what was written? Holy smokes....from deepest left field. The Celtics (not the Caucasian tribes of Western Europe and England some 2200 years ago) have historically played unselfish ball...diving for loose balls, scrapping on defense, giving all out hustle, passing for the best shot etc. Players gave of themselves for the greater good. Others would pan the team in the past saying that the Celtic players really weren't that good ... that they just hustled...leading Auerbach to famously say "hustle IS a talent!". Now if you want to get black and white, I'd say that Kemba and Marcus are as much the embodiment of quintessential as any current Celtic. I don't know what it means to you but to me quintessential means a perfect representation of having the hallowed qualities the team has historically been known for and outlined above. There is zero racial connotation so be careful to suggest, even obliquely, that such could be construed.

It’s like if someone refers to a white guy as a gamer, I’ve seen how those conversations go even though I think they are utterly ridiculous.

Maybe I am a societal 'bubble boy' living a provincial existence of naivete, but I don't know anyone who would principally or reflexively associate "gamer" or "quintessential Celtic" with a white player. Possibly you are squinting to see something that isn't there.

Regarding the Celtics, there is a reason Bill Russell wouldn’t return for decades. I’m Sorry I brought it up, it was half serious because of how ridiculous things can get and half a joke because of how ridiculous things are. Personally, I think there’s nothing wrong with it - I’m sorry I brought the insanity into your bubble. Enjoy it in there the world is a weird place these days.

Kemba out a few managing his knee, Kanter still out. Will we ever have the top 8 healthy at the same time?

What does everyone think of Christian Wood? Seen reports linking him to the Celtics. His advanced numbers are very good. I remember liking him coming out of UNLV. The guy just flat out produces when he plays and has now developed a three point shot. I just don't know what you trade for him.
