John Henry got us pretty numb to pain so whatever, nothing Manfred can do would top the abuse we already got.

I don’t think he even cares. Talk to me when an owner says something harsh I public.

I find it amusing that "Mr. I have been eating steroids for breakfast since I was ten and I look like it" is calling out the Astros.

Yeah so we're not going to do the unfounded steroid allegation thing here. Thanks.

Also, Mike Trout is the man so let’s not talk crap about him. Respect the hell out of that guy. I’m actually surprise he even spoke up. He normally keeps to himself much to the chagrin of MLB. He’s arguably the best player to ever put on a uniform and he’s not all that marketable because he keeps quiet and doesn’t like being in advertisements and just wants to live his life.

And his team doesn’t win, which must make watching another team win by cheating even more infuriating.

Manfred needs to understand that correctly punishing the Astros is likely the only way to protect them at this point. Otherwise, this player outrage is going to go too far, especially given the timing of the new HBP rules - absolutely nobody believes that this has nothing to do with the Astros, and it's pissing players off even more. Players from 28 teams want their pound of flesh, and somebody is going to make a mistake and seriously hurt someone. Only the Red Sox are more reserved in their righteous fury, and we all know why.
It's time for Manfred to get this right.

I find it hard to believe that players are going to try and injure other players to enact their revenge. Also, Manfred already issued the penalties, I find it even harder to believe he’s going to add more because people are mad. Best course of action is to do nothing and let the players vent and then everyone will move on.

And with a lot flimsier reasoning than they have now, I might add. I don't share your confidence. Also, if I believed that every pitcher had the control to deliver a fastball to the left ass-cheek on command, then I still wouldn't like it but I wouldn't be on my soapbox about it. The problem is that we will have some of these guys throwing inside who really shouldn't. It's fine to be angry, but I'd rather not see somebody's melon popped.

This is what happens when you have the players police themselves. If Manfred did his job, this wouldn't be an issue. I mean, a few guys still might take a shot that have felt like they were jobbed by them, but overall I think the players would leave them alone if they were suspended.

If you are a major league pitcher who can’t keep a ball somewhere between ankle and shoulder blade, you are not the guy to be retaliating. Nor, likely, are you long for the major leagues.

The Astros players literally have taken dollars away from the pitchers they face. In fact, I believe this is what made Friers blow the whistle. He was more loyal to his fellow pitchers than his former cheating teammates. I'd love to hear some Astros pitchers be interviewed about this.

Didn't Rick Porcello or Joe Kelly throw at someone and miss by a mile behind them before hitting them on their 2nd or 3rd attempt?

Are you thinking of when Dempster threw at Alex Rodriguez?

He was more loyal to his fellow pitchers than his former cheating teammates. I'd love to hear some Astros pitchers be interviewed about this. I've said it before, but if the Red Sox aren't eliminated 3-1 to the Astros in 2017 John Farrell probably isn't fired. It's interesting that they went: 8-2 @ Houston (Chris Sale 7 ER in 5.0 IP) 8-2 @ Houston (Drew Pomeranz 4 ER in 2.0 IP, E-Rod 2 ER in 0.0 IP) 3-10 @ Boston (Doug Fister 3 ER in 1.1 IP, shutout everyone else including Price going 4.0 IP) 5-4 @ Boston (2 in the 8th, 1 in the 9th) Rotation was a bit more woeful than I remembered, but they were better pitchers in Boston than on the road. Maybe they still lose the series, but maybe not. What we do know is that they fired Farrell after this and hired Alex Cora who took them to an historically good season that ended with a ring.

Are you thinking of when Dempster threw at Alex Rodriguez? You mean the real life reenactment of Roger Dorn’s HBP in Major League 2? A-Rod used to flop around like a decked sport fish when he got plunked.

Things sound rough for Severino. If he needs TJ, and Paxton is in a bad way, the Yankees signing Cole no longer seems like it makes them a juggernaut and becomes a move just to make up for injuries.
Maybe they will be beatable.

Maybe they will be beatable. Cole is also leaving the Astros ball doctoring program or whatever the hell they are doing to drastically increase spin rates If he’s Pittsburgh Cole then that’s just a very good pitcher, not an elite pitcher. And they will be in a bad place
