Thrilled for Bard. Just completely thrilled. The guys like him and Rick Ankiel who pick themselves up and get back to the show are so much fun to root for.

I'm so happy for Bard. My last memory of him starting against Toronto he hit 2 batters walk 6 in 1 2-3 innings before Bobby Valentine pulled him out the game. I felt so bad for him that game.

Altuve and Bregman HBP on consecutive ABs vs the Royals. Apparently Altuve is hurt. Let the games begin.

Sooo...Jasson Dominguez bulked up just a tad at the age of 17. He's giant. Honestly don't know if thats a good thing or bad thing for his development.

So he played in an exhibition game and was around his teammates in the meantime. Not a great look for MLB there.

I put this in another thread, but it looks like MLB will be expanding the playoffs for the 2020 season only. It looks like more than half the teams, 16 to be exact, will make the playoffs this year. Three division winners with 5 wild cards in each league. So if the Sox manage to finish around .500 they will probably make the playoffs. We actually have a real chance of seeing a sub-.500 team make the playoffs and win the World Series in 2020! weei.radio.com/blogs/scott-mclaughlin/red-sox-playoff-chances-increase-with-expanded-postseason

My wife's a physician and got tested voluntarily back in March (God only know why she did that - it wasn't required and she had no symptoms). Once she told the hospital of her test, they said she she couldn't see patients until the results came back. It sucked for 2 days. I would assume MLB would have a similar procedure in place. I mean, what the point of testing and getting results if you let guys frollick with teammates before the results are known?

If entire teams are being tested every few days, how are they going to do that ? There's also the case that The Globe reported yesterday, 60 people tested positive in one Vermont town. They were then given a different test and 48 turned out negative.

They're testing EVERYONE every couple days, like Ray said.

The point stands. Getting tested and waiting for two days while you're circulating with live virus negates the entire premise of testing. There's latency to the development of symptoms, sometimes so mild that the person functions normally, and 40% never even show any. That's the case for Soto.
That's going to play real headgames with teammates. Part of what makes SARS-COV-2 so insidious is just this variability. MLB needs a better plan.

That's why they are social distancing even after testing negative.

I don't disagree, and I think this is a big reason why this might not work. Luckily, being outside versus inside appears to make a huge difference. The key is if players are social distancing indoors.

That just doesn't seem to make any sense, especiaslly if the results take 48 hrs. You'd MLB could get those results very quickly - Get COVID test results in minutes. Otherwise by the time they get results, others are theoretically exposed already. I would think weekly testing would be sufficient, at least by now. Maybe daily temperature taking and a symptom questionnaire. Agree that being outside makes a HUGE difference.

Heard a radio interview re Covid today on WBUR in Boston (a local program I think, not NPR) and under questioning it was stated that an infected person can test negative from 0 to 5 days before testing positive. That's true even if symptoms are already present. They referred to specific examples of this happening. Sorry I can't give better sourcing, I heard it while driving. It's a bit scary though.
