What a debacle this has become. On the bright side, Joc Pederson is gone so that adds pressure to LA. no, I believe that one's been held up as well until the Mookie deal gets finished... That would be my understanding as well. Could be beyond what we've been told, but considering the Angels' owner was apparently complaining about it being held up, that seems to be the case.

Ok, realizing this is a fraud account, but, it raises the issue of whether Atlanta would be interested in Betts directly. Would they do Betts/Price for a package of their top-50 prospects, like Wright and one of the OF kids? m.mlb.com/prospects/2019?list=prospectsAt a minimum this would raise the stakes for LAD to include May.

Oh, a deal will still happen, I suspect. They seemed to be going too far down the path not to do so. The only question is how it goes down.

Mookie to the Braves always seemed like a good fit to me, I was surprised their name never came up in rumors.

Either way their names are out there and the Dodgers have shown their hand, Bloom should be able to use this to his advantage.

Reporting on MLBTR is now saying that deal was contingent on the Betts/Price deal.

This would force me to admit to my brother in law that he was perhaps slightly right. Last summer he talked about trading Mookie for prospects at the deadline, adn from our quick scouring of the prospect lists, we quickly found Atlanta with plentiful prospects.
I of course said you don't punt on the season and keep Mookie. But now with one year to go.....

I don't have a lot of confidence that the Dodgers and Red Sox would be able to work out a two team deal. The Twins only get called if they're having trouble by themselves.

I’m getting yelled at for checking my phone so much so I’d appreciate if these guys could stick to one narrative an hour

We need a solid defensive and offensive 2B. Jeter Downs is a very good fit. Verdugo, Downs and Gray or Gonsolin for Betts. Keep Price and move on. We would be under the tax just by trading Betts.

Henry can’t stop looking bad lately I disagree. This is the first smart thing John Henry has done in a while. Like I said earlier. This is the dumbest move since the Babe Ruth deal. Throw it in the trash and don't revisit it.

Between now and the deadline we can get more for Price. Maybe a budget minded team with prospects like... the Twins would like half priced Price for some prospects. Hmmm... But seriously, Price basically put the team on his back and pitched them to a World Series in 2018 — don’t tell me that’s worth nothing if we throw in money for a team who can’t afford a $30MM arm. And Price has no less potential to be that guy again than Greinke did when he was hurt not that long ago. And Price is left-handed — which adds value, unless you are the Red Sox and only have left-handed starters while your nemesis has built an offensive juggernaut of RH power hitters. Slight digression (again, Martin Perez? Really?)

I mean being swung by media reaction I don't care what the reason is. Just don't trade the 2nd best player in baseball....

I see EVERYONE conflating this and saying the Sox should have known he was a reliever. There's a difference between thinking someone's a reliever because his repertoire is not yet refined enough and thinking he's a reliever because something alarming is showing up on the medical reports that the Sox got to see. Even Rosenthal saying this, portraying the Sox to look even dumber in this whole mess.

Slight digression (again, Martin Perez? Really?) This is the reason why this trade never made sense. David Price for 3 years/$48 million is easily tradable. If we are willing to eat $48 million, there is easily a market for him.

Who knows what is going to happen at this point? Same ones pounding Boston/Henry for the deal now are the same ones will pound them if/when he walks away for nothing and they fail to resign him. Same way half the fanbase has ALWAYS been. Please don't attempt to placate those who cannot be pleased and do what is right.. Move him when can for the right price.

Even Rosenthal saying this, portraying the Sox to look even dumber in this whole mess. Agreed this is being spun against the Sox in a way that I hear no evidence to substantiate. There is a *huge* difference between 1) having a medical problem with your shoulder that means you might be injured shortly, but we’ll try to see if we can prevent that by limiting your innings, and 2) a team seeing a guy as a reliever purely because he is ready to add high value now in that role with wipeout off stuff and potentially ranking as a top closer in the game while the team is in win-now mode. Seems like Sox thought Twins were seeing option 2), but we could use him as a starter instead — but after medical review, the Sox now believe the truth is option 1) was what the Twins were stuck with and what the Sox would be getting.
