Mark Feinsand @feinsand · 2m Source confirms Red Sox and Dodgers are in agreement on a deal that will send Mookie Betts and David Price to L.A. for Alex Verdugo, Jeter Downs and one other player, pending medical reviews. @jeffpassan 1st with the agreement.

not a bad start...hopefully one more pretty good piece and im happy enough I could be totally wrong (duh), but I doubt the other pieces are highly regarded pros pects or quality major leaguers, or they probably would have been known already along with Verdugo and Downs. Just about to say that - it said highlighted, which means that the pitcher is far less than Downs.

I'm pretty content with getting Downs and another dude over Graterol (less of an injury risk). Doubt its gonna please any of the fanbase. I get the feel that they could've gotten a package of Wander Franco, Dustin May, and Luis Robert and people still would want Henry and Bloom's heads on a platter just because Mookie is so dang likable (and good at baseball).

Finally! Benintendi and Bradley will get to play with vertigo. You say it with an exclamation point, but then I think you are being sarcastic and not excited at all.

I don't really care what the return is. This is a sad day. This IS a sad day and I DO care what the return is. Wish the Sox would sign him back in Nov. 2020.

Big power, huge K%. Probably not a major leaguer but he has a high ceiling if he can figure out how to make more contact.

Team: Tulsa Drillers (AA) ETA: 2020 Position: C/2B Age: 23 DOB: 05/19/1996 Bats: R Throws: R Height: 6' 1" Weight: 181 lb. Drafted: 2017, 3rd (100) - LAD
Scouting grades: Hit: 40 | Power: 50 | Run: 55 | Arm: 50 | Field: 50 | Overall: 40
The Dodgers emphasize athleticism when they look for catchers, so Wong was an obvious target for them in the 2017 Draft. He started at shortstop as a Houston freshman before shifting behind the plate for his final two years before Los Angeles selected him in the third round. After hitting 11 homers in his first two college seasons, he hit 12 in his third and then 19 in high Class A during his first full year as a pro.
Wong displayed some wiry strength but used more of a controlled approach at Houston before turning his right-handed swing loose in pro ball. He aggressively looks to drive the ball now and does to all fields, though he'll need to make some adjustments after striking out at a 32 percent clip in 2018. He spent this offseason working to learn which bat path will give him the best production.
Wong has solid speed and is faster than most catchers, which will remain true even if he slows down due to the rigors of catching. He's agile and quick behind the plate, though he's still polishing his receiving and throwing because he's relatively new to the position. Extremely versatile, he spent time at second and third base last season.

I was fine with the original deal, and this looks to be a significant upgrade. It looks to me that the Dodgers caved at the end.
Great work from the front office.

I will admit I like Downs and Wong a lot more that Graterol. I still hate moving Mookie, and sending that much money along with Price. They better sign Mookie back next off-season.

Going by Fangraphs rankings, Downs will be #1 in our system and Wong will be somewhere between #4-10.

Wow, the Dodgers kept the Red Sox away from all of their pitchers and kept them off of their top 2 catching prospects.
Wong has a terrible BB/K ratio, and it wasn't good in AA either, yet his numbers went nuts.
What happened to cause that! I mean he suddenly killed AA pitching. Why?

Boy, this looks like a pretty solid return to me. Still don't know why Price is part of the deal, but other than that...
So does Downs supplant, um, Graterol as our #1 prospect?

Damn. Would have probably preferred that pick to Wong.
