I greatly hope that JBJ commits to using the whole field long-term this time. He always does this (to good effect) for a period of time, and then reverts to trying to yank everything.

If they play this season through until the end, with the staff being what it is, we might end up with the #1 pick in the draft next year. Or maybe the WS this year could be the Mets vs. the Orioles. They've both looked real tough to beat. I am betting on the first scenario being the far more likely one to occur.

At this point, resetting the cap and securing the #1 pick would be a dream come true in this otherwise abysmal year..... I still want to extended looks of the young pitchers and trade any/all assets not X or Possibly Devers

Verdugo providing a small amount of entertainment. Very small. All his hits have been singles, right? Not exactly Sportcenter material.

We knew that the pitching was a mess, but if they don't hit, that is a double mess. They have not been competitive since the 1st game.

But that does not fully explain the pitching staff they've assembled. The 1st overall would be an added bonus for having to put up with this. Them not trading Xander or Devers would be nice also. But with things being what they are I wouldn't be surprised if we trade the rest of our homegrown talent for other team's prospects to restock the system while we reset the cap.

That makes 5 bases empty homeruns.

Am I the only person OK with keeping Moreland another 2-3 years and trading the younger guys like Chavis and Daubach, etc until Casas or a legit prospect is ready? I really like Moreland a lot.

I’ve been saying that the lineup is nearly as bad as the pitching. This OF makes me miss Darnell McDonald. A few key guys had seasons last year they are unlikely to reproduce. I have a 2013 vibe.

You're not going to believe this, but Daubach is actually 48 years old. Probably not getting a great package for him.

This might be the worst sox pitching staff I've ever seen Unless there’s a 1930’s pitching rotation I know nothing about and you’re a dinosaur, I’d say your eyes aren’t deceiving you.

Red Sox worst team ERA was in 1932. They had a 5.02.
We are breaking it.

I was looking at every staff back to 1980 out of curiosity, and it is amazing to see something like 1983, when the Sox finished 6th and had Eck, Tudor, Hurst, Ojeda, and Oil Can. I think Can would be #2 starter now. No staff comes close to being this bad.

Godley has been Godly. Who would have predicted he was the ace of the staff?

I was just going to say we've maybe found something with Godley. Looking for silver linings and all...

Veering off topic from the sucky pitching, but the 1980 team had five HOFers: Yaz, Rice, Fisk, Eck and Tony Perez and wasn't any good.

could've been winning if they'd just, stuck to the original pitching plan they said they were going to. I don't think Roenicke is the guy to use what little they have optimally.
