It’s called midseason sit down. Have a true gut check. Decide who will be on this team next year or who adds value. Cut anyone or trade anyone who doesn’t. We are the BOSTON CELTICS. Time to start acting like Celtics. Anyone who isn’t p—-Ed off over this probably isn’t a player I want on the Celtics or leader I want on Celtics. It’s beyond ridiculous

Well, you can't get lower than this. How quickly things change in the NBA... Hearing Wyc on 98.5 still saying things about Kyrie tells me this team has been in sunk cost fallacy mode for a while with no real plan, which is really concerning.
Its honestly Ainge who needs to be fired following the butchered roster management.

I wouldn’t fire Ainge or Stevens, people need to relax. Ainge had a bad free agent offseason. He’s been really strong. He literally took Tatum and Brown who were no ones top choices for those spots and was 100% right. They are 22 And 24. I’m not getting back into the young players in the NBA debate but it’s not all going to be perfect. They are in a lull. Brad needs to make sure Rob Williams, Nesmith and Pritchard are getting big minutes to take advantage of the lull with player development time. I would not be the least bit surprised if this team finishes 3rd in the conference despite this poor stretch.
Stop the over reactions.

NBA youth... leaning into it can pay off thru development.

Once again I will point to the leader of the team being out. Yes I know their are many reasons to complain but with the heart of this team not playing it is really starting to show more and more how important Smart is to this team. They look a bit lost without him and it is obvious.
One more thing, are the J's lacking intensity on D as they are depended on too much on O? I hate this ISO O by the way but if they can't practice much maybe that is the results of that. Too much iso and too much pressure on the J's.
Also not helping the matter is the forever changing of the rotation. No consistency from enough players to establish a rotation, not to mention injuries or healthy scratches and no real practices for an extremely young team.
Is the season getting away from them? And isn't this a loaded draft? LOL

All I’ll say if you think ainge picks are good..... results !! We are where right now??? Oh that’s right. Below .500, down at half to a team not in playoffs who scored 72 on us in a half, WITH 2 all stars. Yeah that depth is looking just great. Plenty of reasons to bitch, yet you're barking up the wrong tree with Danny in regards to him actually making draft picks. Biggest draft blunder this year is him not making another pick. His botched Hayward trade, his two free agent signings. Heck bitch about trading Rozier for Walker, you could have had Rozier and Marcus Morris, the guy we traded Bradley for. Yet in reality that only works because Kemba knee only lasted 40 games. Then to make matters worse Rozier just keeps getting better.

Bigger problems than this but does it strike anyone else as strange that Nesmith, who has been getting 20+ minutes the past 6 games, was talked about as being a candidate for the closing 5 (not that it was needed this game) and was showing the type of defensive intensity and hustle that this team was sorely lacking tonight, only played 6 minutes before scrub time? That just seems odd. There is an easier answer than what is going on in my head but . . . It's why anyone who says Brad doesn't deserve some blame is kidding themselves. I fully expect the defense to improve when he’s back, maybe even significantly. But he isn’t KG and they aren’t going to magically become a good defensive team when he returns. At the end of the day, this team needs a roster shakeup - mostly to infuse more talent, but partially to remove some of the extra players that Brad can’t seem to help playing.

The only good thing I see about our first this year, is that you can now get more in a trade for it. Teams might be stupid enough to believe we're actually this bad and they might get a lottery pick.

No one between 8 and 12 would have been interested in 14 + 26 or 14 + (say) Grant Williams? There was no good reason to expect Rozier to surpass Kemba at the time, unless the Celtics were overly optimistic on medicals; I've never felt like we've gotten a clear picture of that. But still sucks in retrospect. I'm still open to Hayward not being a mistake (but a victim of circumstance), but I'm not feeling good about "Thompson will be a better fit than Turner at half the price!"

No matter how it's sliced....poor choice of FAs, poor recent drafts, poor execution of trades, poor judge of talent traded away...injuries...it is a perfect storm. Realistically we have 2 very good, young players. They are not all world or all NBA..They are second string all-stars. With Smart, Theis and a reduced Walker...we have some other solid players. Timelord is a fun, athletic freak but limited offensively. Sadly, the rest are flotsam.... In sum, I believe that the roster is under-talented with no near term fix. Maybe we are bad enough to fall back into the lottery and can get lucky, and if we wisely execute the PTE b/t seasons....? But the roster needs to change. Walker won't be part of it going forward...almost an Isaiah deja vu...but will likely generate low return. Who else has value? Theis, Smart...? Regardless, right now we are descending quietly into the night.

But, unlike some of this other questionable rotation moves, this comes just days after he indicated that Nesmith could see more time (or, at least, more critical time). Because if you can't have a good conspiracy theory on a message board, where an you have one? It just felt like a decision from above (no, not God). Given how he's played recently (with, by the way, almost NO impact where most thought he would . . . yet), he might be Boston's best trade asset right now (assuming Smart and RWill aren't getting traded - which is probably a separate topic). And before you respond, remember, facts have NO place in conspiracy theories.

I'm still open to Hayward not being a mistake (but a victim of circumstance), but I'm not feeling good about "Thompson will be a better fit than Turner at half the price!" I see a cutoff in that range, only guy that doesn't make sense is Smith at 10. The Suns are the last team that need more picks versus the guy they want. Really starting at 7 with Pistons, then Knicks, Wiz, Suns, Spurs and Kings there isn't anyone that makes sense for. It all hinges on the medicals which we know nothing about. Was there very little there or did Danny just overlook it because Walker wasn't missing games and it seemed too perfect? We could go all the way back to the Irving trade, in hindsight it looks horrible. Collin Sexton is balling right now. Yet I won't hold that against Danny, as it made perfect sense at the time. I do really believe the Hayward for Turner trade messed up his whole off-season. He had his plan, thought it was a lock that Hayward wanted to go to the Pacers and it was just a matter of time. Then it blows up and by then he's on like option 10 because everyone is already gone. It's a mistake for sure, especially considering the Pacers were willing to throw in a first. That being said his logic made sense, I think Hayward shocked the league going to a losing team. Heck if you believe he was holding out for Aaron Holiday that makes sense, we sure could use a PG. Get those two, sign a wing in free agency or flip Theis for one. That changes everything, completely different team.

Comments by Wyc and Danny in the last 2 days make it seem as though Boston may feel the offseason is a better time to use the TPE.
ADD: Yes, I know this is the "take what you hear from teams with a grain of salt" season

I have been a negative nancy lately, obviously, so let me try to find more positives: - Pritchard was a legitimately good pick
- Nesmith looks like he could at least be a rotation player and maybe more, which is lovely and much more than I thought 1 month ago.
- I think Romeo is a legitimate NBA rotation wing if he can stay healthy, and probably an above average one. Health is the main question, though
- Getting a decent, even a midway decent pick in a loaded draft if the season continues to get away from us would be massive for our team.
- Timelord's development has stunned me, and I would love for him to get healthy and start destroying people averaging 25+ minutes a game.

The roster is flawed, but unless one thing happens and I'm not even going to say it, we just aren't a lottery team. Smart will be back shortly. Simply getting a back up PG and say Josh Hart would greatly change this team. The sky isn't falling, it's just a bad storm that has highlighted how flawed the roster is. Positive is that Danny will be motivated to make moves, something he rarely does at during a season.

Actually when you pick in top 3 you better be making great picks. Tell me a team in the nba that you want over the Celtics if you take the two js off the Celtics. Answer: every single one of them. Point being. Without Tatum and brown Celtics are nothing. Even though they have had so many first round draft picks over the years. Why? Because he has wasted those picks. And if you say he hasn’t. Then where is the depth and where is it showing up? At end of day this is a results league. The results are: ainge lives off a trade for Garnett ( no brainer) and a fleecing of the nets. Take those trades away we hang no banner and aren’t in the talk the pst few years. So he’s a gm that has had two great trades picked 2 great players. And after that has had average to below average success drafting players. And don’t start with Marcus smart. He’s a role player on a great team. He’s not a star. He’s not a franchise player. Again. Results show .... we contended and are headed backwards EVEN with all those draft picks. Time will tell. But if this continues for 2-3 years we won’t be hearing about championships. We will read about Tatum and brown wanting out and that will be squarely on Danny ainge and those who excused his poor draft record as some level of success. Worst team in nba. Detroit pistons. Look at their draft history over past 10 years. No stars ( no top 3 picks) but the role players are there MUCH more than us

So the Lakers and Warriors are only teams that have good GMs? I’ll play your game, can’t count Toronto they got lucky off the Leonard trade and then couldn’t keep him... Let’s just take the 2 best young wings in the league off the team so I can make a point. You realize Tatum and Brown were NOT the consensus picks for Danny to make. People wanted the Celtics to take Fultz number 1 then Josh Jackson at 3. People had Brown way down the list at 3... wanted Bender, Murray, Dunn, Hield and Chriss over him. By the way, Tatum was all-NBA and being an All-star at 22 and 24 is territory reserved for the Greats. Tatum is a 2 time all-star already at 22.

It’s not as easy as you think it is.

It's why anyone who says Brad doesn't deserve some blame is kidding themselves. It's a flawed roster, yet he won't define any roles. That works if it's veteran players, not with young guys. He's always played his whole bench, yet never to this extreme. If Nesmith is that guy, then give him a ten game run doing that. You know try to build up some chemistry. He won't define any roles because his roster right now is Tatum, Brown, no knees Kemba and a bunch of JAGs. You need to shuffle guys around because because the roster demands it. Some of those guys have potential like Timelord, 8 Mile, Nesmith, Grant and Romeo. But those are young guys who will struggle, so scoring enough is really hard considering how poorly they're playing defense right now. I still think they need another solid starter, punt one of Theis or TT and add another solid rotation player. We can turn things around.

Getting off my conspiracy theory, I would offer that Nesmith is probably not the right example of poor role definition.
It's VERY possible that his "demotion" was a result of a "teaching moment". I didn't see the game but followed comments by some of the locals and they made it clear that he passed up on a number of shots (and, despite playing over 20 minutes, he took 0).
Put it this way, Brad wouldn't be the first coach in history that would have a reaction to that.
