It’s easy to forget Smart just turned 27. Speaking of 26/27 year olds.

Langford should make his debut today. Don’t expect much but excited to get him back. It’s easy to forget that he’s both the youngest guy on the roster and that his upside is pretty huge.

Gotta love somebody who can laugh at themselves lol
Great game tonight. Fournier with 6 dimes is encouraging
Smart 8 shots, 7 of them good looks from 3. Yes. 4 assists to 1 TO. Yes.
TimeLord being TimeLord. He’s at a point where I’m mildly underwhelmed by a 16-8-2-2-1 line because it doesn’t look crazy enough
Sick block by Romeo tonight too, nice to see him back. I love the energy that he plays with. People forget that entering his freshman year he was seen as a possible top 5 pick and then he messed up his hand

TimeLord now fourth in the entire league in PER and the only player in the top ten who plays less than 32 minutes a night.
He plays 18.2 minutes a game.
His efficiency has gone up since playing more. He, the TimeLord, Boobutt, might be the most important player on this team.

That Romeo block with two hands was absolutely insane, dude has so much upside on defense.

Imagine if the Celtics just magically added a top 5 center who can playmake (Timelord) and, eventually, a top 20 defense first, drive and cut wing (Romeo) to the Jays, Kemba, and Smart core?
Throw in a plus offense 6'7 wing in Fournier and you might actually have something there in a hell of a 7 man core with average 8th/9th men dependent on matchups (Grant, Nesmith, TT, Pritchard)
The more I see them post break the more I feel we could shock in the playoffs like the Heat last year following the Crowder/Iguodala additions they had. Whatever it is, it's miles better than whatever two big nonsense we had going there for a while because of COVID/poor roster construction.

I wish Timelord was 6'10"+...devastating! I think that when the recent acquisition euphoria dust settles vs mediocre teams, we are a ways from serious competition. Let's hope that Nesmith finds a decent shot with hours in the gym and that Romeo adds to his defensive prowess borne of superior athleticism with a semblance of an offensive game. Both are energetic with young legs thirsting for playing time. Please Brad give them time to err and grow. Winning today is secondary to maybe winning tomorrow. Otherwise they may become trade throw-ins.

I just loved how stout he got. Dude didn't move a single inch, jumped straight as an arrow and came back down on pretty much the same spot. Obviously that's probably an exaggeration, but the way he absorbs contact is seriously impressive.

Both are energetic with young legs thirsting for playing time. Please Brad give them time to err and grow. Winning today is secondary to maybe winning tomorrow. Otherwise they may become trade throw-ins. You basically have last year's playoff team. Robert Williams and Thompson for Theis, a healthy Fournier for Hayward. Our style is built for the playoffs. When you shorten your bench and D matters more, you play 100% every game. So I don't agree one bit with developing young guys over winning. Nesmith is raw, he's not breaking out this year, Pritchard has a better chance. If Langford keeps playing good D, he'll have a role and hopefully take minutes from Grant and Semi. We're a healthy Thompson away from being full strength for the first time all year. You want to win to attract guys, you want players wanting to be here. Danny had his chance to unload guys and he didn't. If you're unloading Nesmith to get a Beal I welcome that all day long. What I love about Steven's is developing the young guys the right way. Makes them earn minutes, I don't want that to stop.

They really need to keep Fournier... he’s a perfect fit on this squad and a great bridge while Romeo and Nesmith develop. He’s also good enough and his contract will be big enough that he can be part of a trade for a bigger contract down the line.

The only guy the Celts have had on a "fair" contract is Smart, which has absolutely limited them.

The key being a good deal that's tradable and not going too big. At 17 million he was only worth two second round picks. I certainly agree it's good to have contracts to trade, I don't see how we've been limited by only having Smart though. Last year you had max cap space and this year you had the largest trade exception in NBA history. You had the ability to trade Hayward.

Jesus - Fournier and Brown out for Health and Safety protocols. Unreal... this season is a bust.

Didn't see anything about Brown (other than that he'd commented on Fournier's placement).

sports.yahoo.com/evan-fournier-absence-highlights-celtics-165652485.htmlCeltics are #1, Tatum, Smart, Robert Williams, Langford and Thompson have all had Covid. I don't see anything on Brown, let's hope Fournier is just another false positive. It's going to be brutal if you lose both players just when we were about to get healthy. Things are getting better, I'm the only person in my family that hasn't gotten the vaccine. Yet it just won't go away quick enough. On another note, big game for Robert Williams tonight if Embiid plays. He needs that experience.

This has been some of the worst officiating you’ll ever see. Completely lopsided whistle tonight.

We can't currently beat the top teams...Lakers and Nets + others. We are a bit above middling even with Fournier. So let's prepare for the future...Let's try to accelerate the development of Nesmith and Langford who have the athleticism and energy to help....at the expense of Williams and Ojeleye. Those former two represent upside and second unit incremental improvement.
Maybe an off season trade or use of the trade exception plus a top 15 draft selection gets us close. .

Eh not that bad considering we were missing Fournier and RWIII essentially. Is Tristan Thompson ever coming back?
