How the heck is each quote from TLR worse than the last?

My only defense would be if Mercedes was given the take sign and still swung anyways. That's different than breaking the unwritten rule of not swinging on 3-0 when up big. Do we know if he was given the sign?

I don't really understand the anger over following the "unwritten rules." The way I see it, if you're putting a position player in to pitch, you're basically rolling over and showing your belly. "We don't think we have a chance to come back and win this, let's just get through it and move on to the next day." To me, the classy response to someone waving the white flag is to show appropriate restraint. Personally, my issue with the unwritten rules is how they are enforced. If you want to gently shake your head at a guy swinging 3-0 in a blowout, that’s fine with me. But the punishment is always to throw at a guy (sometimes a different guy than the one who broke the unwritten rules), which seems like a wildly disproportionate response. So there's always been a gamesmanship aspect of the unwritten rules that I've never had a problem with. Thinking of stuff like Jack McKeon complaining about a stolen base when the Red Sox were clobbering the Marlins, or Sabathia getting pissy about a player bunting on him in what wasn't really a sacrifice situation. There's a big difference between throwing a baseball at a person and going on talk radio and calling the other team bush league to get a rise out of them. And, of course, in those situations they are trying to get into their opponents' heads rather than undermining their own team.

How the heck is each quote from TLR worse than the last? Or is about to get fired within the week?

Baseball savant's homerun tracker makes it so easy to watch and appreciate him. Just click on his name and they have every home run listed for us to click on without having to watch any ads: baseballsavant.mlb.com/leaderboard/home-runsI pulled it up last night before bed because I wanted to see if his 0.160 xBA home run against Barnes was a no-doubter (which is was, out in all 30 ballparks) and I ended up watching the entire list. He's en fuego right now.

28 year old rookie shouldn't be publicly at odds with his manager, regardless of the manager or situation. Gotta play to get paid. You play when you are performing. The rookie was hitting .368/.417/.571 entering tonight. The manager is the one who made it public. The manager is the one that's more disposable to the franchise, not the cheap cost controlled player who literally did nothing wrong. There's literally no upside to his manager attacking him, except for LaRussa to cozy up to his fellow old crusty out of touch baseball friends. LaRussa should stop focusing on the unwritten rules of baseball and focus more on not operating motor vehicles when he's intoxicated.

Another effing no-hitter? The first of these teams to be no hit 3 times should be sent down to AAA

The surprising part about this is the lack of no-hitters against the Tigers.

Interesting that 1/3 of the no-hitters have been pitched by NL teams, but only AL teams have been no-hit.

Chris Davis out for the season. Question: do teams get insurance money or any sort of relief for injury? If so, he is more valuable hurt than healthy.
Is this the worst contract ever?

Psych, Taylor Walls instead. I saw that you nailed it on twitter dot com lol I mean, that Durham roster is freaking loaded. I could see them saying they want Franco and Brujan to play next to each other every day, so call up Walls instead (who was arguably hitting better than Franco and is an excellent defensive SS).
