Rich Hill vs. BOS on 6/23 (two days after enforcement began):
5 IP, 3 H, R, 5 BB, 5 K, HBP
His next four starts he gave up 4, 1, 3, and 3 runs for a total of 11 R in 18.2 IP.
My guess is that the GM told him they were either moving him to the bullpen or cutting him and he asked to be traded.

I didn't see these. Interesting! This redeems 'Cubs' for me. It's cool that 'Athletics' is the oldest name in American sports; some redemptive old-timiness there. I think 'Giants,' then, is officially the blandest and most meaningless team name in MLB.

Have seen that Hill was traded to offset the salary they brought on by trading for Cruz, who is making $13M this year, making him the team's highest-paid player.
I believe it's day 114/186 for the season. Using that number, Cruz's $7.96M prorated salary is still the second-highest salary on the Rays.

Doesn't the Rays getting an injured Tommy Hunter negate a lot of those savings from Hill, though?

Being nitpicky here but since there's only 39 percent or so of the season left wouldn't Cruz cost $5.03 million not $7.96m?

Can we still refer to Cleveland’s team as “The Tribe”? No?

Can we still refer to Cleveland’s team as “The Tribe”? No? No, but I wonder if this makes Terry Francona a philosopher-king?

I will hear no slander on the Raptors because they brought us this: Guardians seems bland and makes me think of insurance but at least there is a local tie. Also this: Which is a great analogy every time that teams fails.

Can we still refer to Cleveland’s team as “The Tribe”? No? No, but a lot of announcers will slip up and use that, at least until they come up with a cool nickname for Guardians.
Heck, Chris and Ian say "Pawtucket" at least once each per podcast...

The Guard dogs Guardians of the diamond GSuite and get sponsored by Google?

Grunt Talks MLB @grunttalksmlb · 11h The Yankees have made an offer for Rockies SS Trevor Story. What does everyone think would be a fair offer? Story makes 13.75 million this year. Prorated thatd bring it down to about 6ish for the yankees maybe a little less. I have to think that'd push them over the luxury tax which would be great in my opinion. Go over the luxury tax with a still very flawed team not likely to make a legitimate run at the WS. Not to tempt fate either story isn't exactly having a great year. .240/.312/.421 slash line.

The Mets have signed 19 of their draft picks and haven't made the Rocker signing official yet. What the f is going on there? Squabbling over whether the owners should keep a few hundred thousand since there is no one else to give it to?

Story is exactly what the Yankees need. A name that they can sell to their fans. Look at every beat writers columns, he's considered the best player available.
Yanks have gotten themselves into a bind, selling off means Judge who is very popular in NY. Treading water will be viewed as throwing up a white flag.
