Is there any word or rumor that Garrett Richards was using pine tar? I found it to be a very odd comment that Jimmy Stewart on 98.5 made at the show's closing with Mazz playing up his comments before starting the baseball reporters. Seems kind of weak to just accuse a guy of cheating just because he had a good game. It has become the norm in all areas of life these days....

Well, hopefully Pivetta can have himself a game and get accused tomorrow.

I don't want to jinx anything, but 3B defense seems to be solid as of late.

Ok... gunna say something that people will kill: Richards looked great last night and had great results he would have had against anyone. Pivetta is doing well tonight... but he might be lucky this is the Mets. He throws 97, which is awesome. But his command *still* seems bad.

I didn't like his strike zone, but hope he's OK.
I wonder how this will impact both pitchers with a new umpire who will have their own strike zone.

I wonder if umps have concussion issues? Long career, you must get your bell rung a number of times.

That first inning could have been a disaster if they were facing the Dodgers and we're talking about a bad performance, but since then he looks to be more in control. I feel like if he survived the 1st inning it would still be at worst a quality start against better hitting lineups.

as with most great pitches you got to get them early. Still, have to be happy with the game thus far.

Hopefully one more smooth inning from Pivetta here then Whitlock time. Can’t let Pivetta go through the order a third time IMO

Hats out to Pivetta. Must be tough pitching knowing you have to be perfect to have any shot. And he was as close to perfect as he could have reasonably been.
