They're meant to be a lot less formal than other threads on the forum, so to moderate them the same way would be silly. However, we do ask posters to maintain a certain level of decorum in these threads, and we plan on moderating the Gameday threads a little more actively this season. In particular, we ask that posters refrain from being overly repetitive with their posts (if you've made your point, let it go), refrain from monopolizing the discussion (if you are making more than a couple posts in a row, you probably need to slow down a little bit), and of course, follow the Ground Rules ( link). The point is to make these threads worth participating in and fun for all posters, from our long-time fixtures to people just signing up today. -The Management

It's been a few years. Just popping in to say hi. BRO! How have you been? Things have been well. Moved back to Boston, expecting our first kid in a month or so, Red Sox are fun to watch again. Good to see a bunch of familiar faces (err, names, I guess).

It's been a few years. Just popping in to say hi. Look at you just casually waltzing into an Orioles gameday thread. Glad to hear things are well and congrats on your soon-to-be parenthood. We could use your thoughtful posts from time to time, but no pressure!

WooSox game notes confirm that Chavis and Bandy are the taxi squad in Baltimore (and with the AAA team just a 2-hour drive away, they don't really need more than that).

hairps and jmei back in the same couple weeks? Nature is healing...
Next that guy who pretended he was a scout back before that kind of information was readily available in the media guide is going to pop up...
EDIT: Scaffolds! Not sure why I couldn't remember that.

I hate to say it, because I thought he'd adjust like he has in the past, but Dalbec's balance/timing is completely off. Wouldn't hurt to send him down for a couple weeks to try to re-find the magic.

Pitchers have a book on him and they've been reading it. They set him up inside and finish him off high outside with hard stuff, or low outside with breaking stuff. As you point out, he hasn't adjusted (yet). It's just a constant in MLB, that back and forth. He has to have a plan and I don't think he has that figured out yet.

Things have been well. Moved back to Boston, expecting our first kid in a month or so, Red Sox are fun to watch again. Good to see a bunch of familiar faces (err, names, I guess). Great to see your avatar. It's certainly more fun than last year! I do think the team caught some (twisted) luck what with the initial shutdown and the loss of key pieces in the starting rotation. It was a down season and they could barely tread water so a rebuild of sorts could happen with lots of alibis. The FO proceeded to restock with judicious trades, waiver acquisitions, Rule 5 draft selections, and a re-positioning in the draft order. The minor league system is still being rebuilt, but it actually has some pitching talent now. Low expectations last year led to low expectations this season, but the hitting is back and there's even a little pitching. They blindsided the division early, but I do expect the competition to get very heated as they play NY, Tor, and TB. Still a lot more fun watching that from the top than the bottom for us fans, though.

Marwin leading off with Kiké injured. Golden opportunity to stick Franchy in the top spot blown.

Still a lot more fun watching that from the top than the bottom for us fans, though. The Red Sox won 8 of their last 13 games last year with Pivetta and Houck combining for 5 of the wins. Eovaldi and Perez were pitching well. IMO if the season had gone on longer with the emergence of Dalbec hitting well along with Bogaerts, Devers, and Verdugo that the Red Sox would have finished at .500 or better. Most of the AAAA players were already released or demoted and the team was playing much better. We will never know, but i think that was a good jump start to this year. Just my opinion....

Marwin leading off with Kiké injured. Golden opportunity to stick Franchy in the top spot blown. Marwin walks a lot and has a better OBP than Hernández. Maybe if he looks good today Cora will take Hernández out of the role and put Marwin there when he is in the lineup.

Game Is in the bottom of the first Apparently, my misplaced sense of self-worth also makes it impossible for me to hit the refresh button on my laptop. Sigh. Getting old has no dignity. Thanks.
