They're meant to be a lot less formal than other threads on the forum, so to moderate them the same way would be silly. However, we do ask posters to maintain a certain level of decorum in these threads, and we plan on moderating the Gameday threads a little more actively this season. In particular, we ask that posters refrain from being overly repetitive with their posts (if you've made your point, let it go), refrain from monopolizing the discussion (if you are making more than a couple posts in a row, you probably need to slow down a little bit), and of course, follow the Ground Rules ( link). The point is to make these threads worth participating in and fun for all posters, from our long-time fixtures to people just signing up today. -The Management

Don't want to get greedy, but another sweep would be nice.

Some dude named Zach Thompson making his MLB debut for the Marlins today. Not much on him. Seems like a fastball/slider guys that has been a 30-50 team prospect in his career. Fine stuff, but a lot of hittable pitches.

That's crazy. He hasn't started since 2017 when he was at High-A Winston-Salem. So basically they're running a bullpen game.

That's a hell of a break. Lopez has been good this year.

The broadcast team had just been talking to Cora about stressing the feet first not belly slide. X comes in on his stomach for the first run with nobody covering. Also I never have seen babyface look so fit.

Squanderage despite the run. Nice to see the lead-off guy actually get on, though.

Have the Sox gotten a high number of double plays, or does it just feel that way? Richards and Pivetta seem to get out of trouble a lot with two. I don’t know if that is statistically valid, though.

Sweet! Well-struck, Mr. Arroyo! Remy just complimented the hitting this inning as the camera panned the Sox dugout and focused on Dalbec, who did not surprise by striking out.

I think it is probably time to make a change. Well, they could send him down to get reps and work on his swing like Franchy, move Marwin to first and bring up Duran to let him play LF.

Given the versatility of some of the players, it's kinda hard to do a one to one comparison here.
Projections:
Dalbec: .313 wOBA Hernandez: .315 wOBA Franchy: .304 wOBA Marwin: .310 wOBA Duran: .305 wOBA (probably underrated him a hair because they don't know about his swing change) Chavis: .300 wOBA Arroyo: .310 wOBA Santana: The spread here is between .290 and .320, who the hell knows Big Daddy Johan Mieses: .317 wOBA
As long as Chavis is in the minors, I can't really complain about any configuration of these guys playing.

I don't buy sending Dalbec down. He's going to turn 26 in a few weeks. I don't think he is going to benefit from going to AAA any more than Franchy is. As far as I am concerned, Franchy's performance since going down is as or more likely to be a mirage than something real that translates to the majors. There's too much of a temptation, if a hitter can make himself look good with his basic approach against pitching that isn't quite as good, to stick with what brung ya and and hope to get recalled based on results in the minors rather than process. I think Dalbec needs to stay up and either sink or swim. He's got to learn what to do against the guys he's going to need to do it against. If he can't cut it, then let him go and chalk it down to a high-risk, high-reward shot that didn't work out.

Lets see what happens when they take the Junk of the baseball, guys like Dalbec might do a little better at recognizing pitches he can turn on. Heck, when that happens it might be time to send Franchy back up too.
