Wow. Assuming they just push everyone back a day, but still use Houck in the last game of the Blue Jays series on Wednesday, this improves the rotation considerably in these 17 games.
The rotation for the 4 games back in Boston would then be the same as originally scheduled for this series, instead of starting with Perez and ending with Richards. You're gaining an E-Rod start for a Richards.
Next they host the Jays, and for the opener they have Richards on 5 days rest or Houck on 4, so they could swap in Houck for Richards effortlessly.
The series in Tampa at the deadline was probably going to be Pivetta, Sale or Richards, E-Rod via insertion of a second Houck start versus Toronto. I still think they use both Houck and Richards versus Toronto, but now that pushes Eovaldi to the series opener. If Sale needs another rehab start, it's then Pivetta and E-Rod,; if he doesn't, it's Sale in game 2 and their choice of E-Rod and Pivetta in game 3. I don't think that it's a coincidenbce that they timed Sale's fourth rehab start to the middle of the Rays series.

Lol. Because elite athletes playing a game outside are just fine. This isn’t a nursing home outbreak. Send the positive cases home for a week and play some baseball! It’s also nice that Judge and Urshela will miss just about all of the 8 games we have coming.... Kind of messed up to have this take considering E-Rod missed an entire season because of a serious heart ailment due to the pandemic. COVID doesn't care if you're an elite athlete. Pretty sure some healthy people have found themselves on respirators. Pretty sure some healthy people got the vaccine and ended up in the hospital(or worse). There is a risk/reward for COVID v. The vaccine especially for young/ healthy people.

But of course, correlation doesn't equal causation and all that. He'll be sitting down and his pulse shoots up to 170 for no reason.
Thankfully he has amazing health insurance that kicks in after spending $8000 in deductibles.

The Red Sox are currently betting underdogs in this game, btw. Erod isn’t scaring those RH bats, I suppose.

Time to bury the Yankees, in the race I mean of course, take 3 out of 4 and they are 10 back. Imagine the players they could sell off if put in that position. The chatter is already starting in the national media about what the MFYs could get back for Judge. My pet theory is that Cashman is floating these ideas anonymously to check the temperature of the fan base.
I doubt Cashman could get a return on Judge that would make it worthwhile. It would also be a PR nightmare to trade the face of that franchise for a couple prospects. Torres is the guy that he should look to move, I think. He’s clearly a change-of-scenery guy and probably still has some decent value. Britton and Chapman also seem like good trade chips(if they are healthy and pitching well). I’m not sure if Chapman is broken or can be fixed prior to the deadline.

Imagine the alternate reality where the Yankees were smart enough to sign JD Martinez instead of trading for Stanton. I can't imagine JDM hitting in Yankee Stadium for half his games.

Erod needs to pitch to scorecard, not the perception of a weaker lineup and the hitters need to put Montgomery out like a gimpy horse.

It's as if people don't notice or remember the 6-7 bloop singles he gives up per game and only care about win loss record and ERA.
Actual wOBA=.341 expected wOBA=.298 Career best K% and B% Actual ERA=5.52 expected ERA=3.58
BABIP=.361 career BABIP=.306 LOB%=64.5% career 74.0%
xFIP=3.37 SIERA=3.49
Pretty much, he has never pitched better. His whiff rates on his pitches have never been higher. I'm all for extending him now if he's more likely to sign because of the poor unlucky results.

The series in Tampa at the deadline was probably going to be Pivetta, Sale or Richards, E-Rod via insertion of a second Houck start versus Toronto.
Well, they're not doing that!
If they insert Houck twice, the Rays series becomes Pivetta, Sale or Perez (assuming he starts the first game in Toronto South), E-Rod. But I think they likely wait until the second Yankees series for Houck's first start, and then use him again again in the second Blue Jays series.
