Richards is starting tonight. Maybe I'm missing something? As pointed out by Lou Merloni yesterday, until the rainout at least, it was noteworthy that Sale is lined up with Richards' spot in the rotation. I'm wondering if they might trade him at the deadline to stay under the cap. I don't really see the need for 3 long guys in the pen. And he's just plain bad in his first inning. Sox have been pretty fortunate not to have any major pitching injuries... I’m not sure cutting into your depth is worth whatever he would bring back in a trade

I’m not sure cutting into your depth is worth whatever he would bring back in a trade I'm not sure there is a market for a guy whose stuff so clearly was impacted by the banning of sticky-stuff. If I had to bet he slides into the Adreise type role or emergency spot starts when necessary for the remainder of the year. I concur, I'm not sure I'm depleting any of my pitching depth this year considering the sheer amount of injuries pitchers in particular have faced. I'm actually shocked there hasn't been more injuries for the Sox to this point. Whatever they are doing as far as health is working much better than the league average.

8 pitches. That’s not how you get rid of Ray.

Oh jeez you're right. I meant to say he's a former Senator from Utah. Utah senator was Orrin Hatch (42 year 1977-2019) Dammit you're right! I was thinking of the actress from Lois and Clark and Desperate Housewives.

So are you prepared to do an Ottavino-German deal to unload Richards' contract? Keep in mind that Richards probably has less value, so you're probably giving up a better prospect than German to do so. Personally? I'm not.

How is it that Richards can look rough even in a good inning? Not sure he threw a strike to the leadoff hitter. The curve to Vlad was nasty though.
