Where would we be without Whitlock? Probably 3 less wins with NY getting 2 more. Where would we be without Ottavino?

I'm just glad the Red Sox didn't squander Bobby's hit this week.

It is no wonder the Jays lead baseball in HRs and OPS with this homer dome. Yeah but they have some real studs too Very true but is some of that inflated by the ballpark? Team OPS is over 100 points higher at home. With Vlad leading the way at 350 points higher at home, hmmm.

I like vlad Jr a lot but let's hope getting back into the rogers center in Toronto gets him closer to that .533 range and the blue jays offense slows down up there since I don't fear their pitching.

Hard to complain about wins with Pivetta and Richards on the road. Decent innings pitched by the starters too so the bullpen will be relatively rested for the MFYs.

Castellanos and Marcus Wilson are out of their games, maybe help is on the way Castellanos has a microfracture in his wrist. Not only is he not going anywhere, he won’t be opting out after this year given the history of those types of injuries. No word on Wilson.

Can’t we just do a piggyback start on Sunday with Whitfield opening the first two innings and then Sale throwing his 65 pitches? Perez seems like an auto-loss against that line-up.

Wilson came out because of an injury too - so all of the drama seems unwarranted in terms of pulled due to trades

At Verdugo’s current rate, he might not match his WAR from 53 games last season. He really needs the IL.

Actually how many times as a player had a .813 slugging with out steroids? The ball park is obviously a band box that is inflating numbers.

Haha yea I thought that seemed like all time great type of numbers but didn't look into it. Gonna say that either way it's probably not sustainable for home batting numbers.

So, Santana likely for the DL - do we see Franchie, finally? Apparently he got pulled late in the Woo Sox game tonight.

That's at home over slightly more than half a season, so there's still a lot of volatility and that could drift down pretty easily. 700+ at home is still elite but not ungodly. Aaron Judge last year in the Bronx had an .857 slugging and over a full season in 2017 he slugged .725. Ohtani's at .712 right now. Trout's basically averaged .650 at home since 2017.

When somebody makes a statement like my "how many times" it is in a way rhetorical and you don't expect an actual answer. Unless you are on soxprospects in which case someone will be coming up with the answers. Kind of funny.

Great, necessary win.
I thought Richards looked great.
Maybe he ran out of gas, or maybe he screwed himself up mentally.
He was attacking hitters all night.
Ok, Vlad Jr got him. So what, he's gotten everybody. It wasn't even that bad of a pitch.
So Richards gets two quick outs in the 6th and Vlad comes up with nobody on and Toronto down 5-1.
Instead of being in attack mode, as he was all game, Richards suddenly pitched so tentatively to Vlad Jr, afraid to face him. He walks him on 4 pitches and it's like Richards came out of his game mode, like he started to think too much or something, because then Springer and Hernandez tattooed him and tarnished a great pitching line, which is too bad.
But still I was encouraged by his outing, and frankly if somebody gets bumped the rotation, I'd prefer Perez. I can see others disagreeing, but let's see what is said if/when Perez has another 3 or 4 inning outing against the AAA Yankees lineup.
But anyways, thanks to Yankee castoffs Whitlock and Ottavino, the Sox sailed through to the 9th with a lead and Barnes, surprisingly wound up being extremely well rested (hard to believe given that he had to labor during the all-star game).
Nice to see the HR bats of Kiké Hernandez (quite often lately), Devers (what else is new?), Chavis (he actually hit a fastball?), and the much needed insurance of JDM (#20) and Renfroe (2 in 2 days).
And the Sox are down their utility guys as both Marwin and Santana are injured. I guess we'll see Franchy soon. Hope we get Arroyou back soon so Kiké can take Marwin's role as an everyday guy playing all over the diamond as needed.
The only downside of tonight's win as that Whitlock won't be available tomorrow for the Yankees game.

Re Whitlock.
He threw 19 pitches today in 1.1 innings. Whitlock will be available for his usual stint at some point during the four game series with the MFYs.
