They're meant to be a lot less formal than other threads on the forum, so to moderate them the same way would be silly. However, we do ask posters to maintain a certain level of decorum in these threads, and we plan on moderating the Gameday threads a little more actively this season. In particular, we ask that posters refrain from being overly repetitive with their posts (if you've made your point, let it go), refrain from monopolizing the discussion (if you are making more than a couple posts in a row, you probably need to slow down a little bit), and of course, follow the Ground Rules ( link). The point is to make these threads worth participating in and fun for all posters, from our long-time fixtures to people just signing up today. -The Management

I love tonight's matchup. Houck should do well against that RH-heavy lineup and we're seeing Montgomery's mediocre stuff for the third time in a few weeks. Let's crush these pigs.
We also have the advantage on Saturday. Sunday is about even. MFYs have the edge on Friday, though I expect E-Rod to pitch well.
Against the MFY's covid-weakened lineup, I'll be disappointed with anything less than three out of four.

I thought 2 out of 3 vs this lineup and these pitchers should be doable and we saw how that turned out. Alas it's a new series and the bats woke up vs Toronto so hopefully we see some more hitting because yes looking at their lineup I can't imagine them winning a slugfest of a game.

Realy need to bury MFYs. Especially after last serries. How these next 11 games go will go a long ways in the fate of the season.

I hate these F-ing guys. Win three steal one and end their season.

Martin Pérez hasn't been good for awhile. He's a guy who desperately needs a bounce back performance.
Verdugo is really concerning me. He's been very pedestrian this season after a hot start.
Xander hit a few balls that gives me hope his hand is OK. Even if he can avoid the IL, Xander at 70-80% is a big hit to a team reliant on his bat.
E-Rod has been turning it around, but he's still facing Gerrit Cole.
I think the Sox win 2 and steal 1.
Win 2 out of 4, the Yankees likely won't win the division. 3 out of 4, it's practically game over. Win 4 out of 4 then they're at a big risk of missing the playoffs.
Big, big series.

A Sunday 1:10 Red Sox v Yankees game just feels strange. Soooo much better than a 4+ hour ESPN game.

I'm sick of this sitting Duran for lefties already. Let the kid play and wreak havoc on the basepaths. Also, not like Montgomery is Chris Sale in his prime. Or even, like, Robbie Ray.

I kind of like Devers hitting 2nd, especially with how much he has been walking lately.
In July, he has a 12.3% walk rate and 16.9% k rate.
If his walk rate keeps creeping up, that's what's going to put him in MVP consideration in the future.

Hernandez is now carrying an isolated discipline of 80 points above his batting average. Admittedly that's still sitting at .241 but his on-base is now comfortably above .300 and the power has definitely been a nice addition. He's already added enough value to pay for this year and next year's salary.

Jordan Montgomery is like a lefty Dice-K. You need to do damage when you get opportunity. Both wiggles out of jams so often.
