I really like the new site layout too, my first initial reaction was "WTF" but, once you get used to it it's more sensical, usable, readable, modern, blah blah blah. Well done guys.

Hello to all of our readers! Yesterday we launched a newly-redesigned SoxProspects.com home page, transactions page, and team rosters page. The redesign has been in the works for a couple months and we’re really excited about it. Please take a look at soxprospects.com when you get a chance. (You may need to refresh your browser). As with any redesign, we expect that some of you will be really jazzed about it off the bat, while some of you will be bummed that we changed the look-and-feel that we’ve all been accustomed to for almost 18 years. Some of the testers felt that way initially but pretty much everyone eventually came around to liking the new design much better. From our perspective, here are some of the benefits of the new design: - Organizes concepts into “cards” - we have the ability to add, remove, and move cards as we like
- Cleaner & more modern look and feel with more consistent fonts and bigger font sizes, nixing the blue background and the grey/white zebra striping which is hard to maintain & update.
- Puts 1-60 rankings onto the home page
- Increases size & quality of brand new player thumbnail photos
- Adds some more interesting graphics
- More mobile friendly, more adaptable for different screen sizes
- More & better room for stats, data, and news links
- The left and right columns are wider and taller, making room for an improved Twitter feed, news feed, and forum feed
- Some interesting new cards included updated Graduated Prospects; a breakout of the Lists pages; a new podcast card with links to our podcast on Patreon, Libsyn, SP News, Apple, Spotify, and Stitcher; and a new social media card with updated graphics.
- Moves the top menu from graphics to text. Makes it much easier to change & update. Easier to read and for search engines to cache. More ADA accessible and compliant. More concise set of links, limited to our most popular links.
- Removes some old legacy code that dated all the way back to 2003, some of which was no longer operative.
- Return of the "Banner" on the transactions page
Because we have limited time to dedicate to the overhaul, we will be rolling this design to other pages on the site over time, as opposed to all at once. We expect that the next wave of pages will be updated in the coming days or weeks.

Much cleaner, easier to read and puts more user info on the home page. What is not to like. Well done.

Good work. I particularly like the level of each prospect so prominently displayed.
Two thumbs up.

Love the redesigned site (then again, I loved the old one) - especially like the added column to the prospects list - the ETA for reaching the show. Great job - thanks.

Nice job. I’m a little bummed to lose the old site - which I’ve been following, like many here, since 2004 - but at some point it becomes difficult to maintain old code and an update is necessitated. I do wonder whether it’s possible to go back to the old color scheme, or at least provide that as a user option. I found the older color scheme warmer and easier to look at, not to mention providing a nice mental link to those earlier years.

Looks great! Now that this project is done I’d like to formally suggest SoxProspects.com hats (with the buckle on the back)... $40 a pop would be a killer fundraiser. Would love to see these around Fenway

As someone who doesn't even own a smartphone, and has watched as every other site on the internet maximizes layout for a 2-inch wide screen and phone scrolling, let me say: congratulations on doing a site redesign that doesn't look like complete garbage on a laptop. An incredibly rare accomplishment!

An incredibly rare accomplishment! Me too. I do own a Nokia that you have to hit each letter 1,2, or 3 times. I know it's around here someplace.

I like the new design, looks very "clean".
Two questions: Is it possible to center the top link list (Home Transactions etc.)? The whole site is symmetrical and centered, but the link list is off-center and it makes my left eyelid twitch nervously after looking at it for more than 15 seconds . Maybe put the logo on both sides?
The white-grey design is, by definition, a bit colorless. Have you tried it with the old blue background? Is the dark-bright contrast too much? Maybe it just takes some time to get used to...

Really nice aesthetic - gives us the info we need right away, in a better format than previous.
Only suggestion for Redesign version 1.1... dynamic window sizing for those of us who have woefully small monitors and are working on a number of open windows at once.
Well done!

One thing I noticed on Windows (whatever this newest version is called)
There's an option in the display settings to make apps and text larger, and the default is 150% for some reason. If you drop that to the next setting the new pages fit much better.

Since my laptop is at one end of the house and my big screen at the other, this is not something I would ordinarily do.
On the laptop, the color scheme is fine, laptops aren't all that bright. So for my use, I'm happy. On a 65" monitor it's way too harsh, extremely so. Maybe a pastel powder blue background would work better across a wider range of devices.

Love the new design and the 40-man page is quite handy. Minor suggestion: I’d love to see something similar, with the top 60 prospects on a single page or even a second page for 31-60. I enjoy seeing the up-to-date stats for 1-30 at a glance but am less apt to click multiple times to see how Kavadas is doing, then back to do the same thing for Walter. Again, nice job!

Maybe put the logo on both sides? The white-grey design is, by definition, a bit colorless. Have you tried it with the old blue background? Is the dark-bright contrast too much? Maybe it just takes some time to get used to... The redesign is great, both attractive and functional. The one comment I would have is related to the first question about, which I have put in bold. The whole site looks great, but that one thing, "the top link list (Home Transactions etc.)" seems not only off center but also not as attractive, both for positioning and I think font. I work on Macs, and have looked at it on Safari and Firefox; on Safari the words seem too close to the top of the space, and on both it looks a little bit like, well, as if I designed it instead of the person who designed all the other very attractive parts of the new design. Maybe what I'm gently complaining about is needed to make it work for all kinds of devices; I don't notice the difference on my iPhone, where everything is pretty small.

This is an unbelievably good site, and I cannot believe the quality and depth of the information it provides, and all in all I find it sort of miraculous. So it is with only the deepest humility that I mention that one feature that would be interesting to add would be a record of scouting grades as they were given at the time in the rankings history. It would make the comparison between, say, a top 3 of Moncada/Benintendi/Devers in 2016 and a top 3 of Groome/Chavis/Mata in 2017 that much more informative.
Not trying to suggest anyone needs to do more work than you all already do on this site! Just a thought, if you're looking for a project...
