did the pitcher from UConn, Crawford, who is hitting 99 for team USA last year, get hurt? He got TJ in Nov/Dec so will be out all year. Seems like he's being projected towards the end of competitive balance round B / beginning of the third round. Though when there's so little data on a guy, I feel like mocks / rankings have artificially low variance.

Just wondering. Saw that D'Angelo Ortiz is playing for the Brockton Rox and was caught by surprise that he is draft eligible this year. Any chance he gets drafted? Is he even good enough to play pro? What a storyline it would be to join the Red Sox.

I wouldn't be surprised to see them go under slot and take Gavin Turley, OF, Hamilton Chandler, AZ in the 1st round. Prospects Live

What a storyline it would be to join the Red Sox. Not only is D'Angelo playing for Brockton, he's playing w Manny Ramirez Jr, Pedro Martinez Jr, Keith Foulke's son, and Gary Sheffield's son! What's unusual is he is uncommited right now, and really does want to get drafted and is eager to play pro ball. His prospect status is a bit murky, but a story I read last yr was about his commitment to really working on getting drafted. David mentioned the improvment he saw in him in the short time after he moved to Florida and really started taking it seriously thinks he's going to be drafted.

Apparently Pedro's kid is joining them later. Just leaning into it...

Just put it on my calendar. I'll have to talk my son into it since my wife is on all that weekend. I might have to pay up

The last thing I read which I think was in the Globe -a while back- was that D'Angelo had special status as a Dominican resident working out in the Miami area. How dual citizenship works for the draft IDK? if he were to declare as an Intl. Free agent I would think that would be more advantageous than an eligible US resident for the draft. While I think D'Angelo will be drafted I don't think it's felt the 3b/1b is a potential high choice.

They moved the draft to far. I really like how the draft matches up with the NCAA season now as opposed to in the past. It should be better for pretty much everyone too.

I don’t really care for NCAA other than draft related so for me it didn’t matter but it’s fine they could have moved it to after the CWS but right now it’s basically in mid July.

For whatever it’s worth the Red Sox have drafted many Gators over the years so 🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️
The Gator I’m interested in is Brandon Sproat maybe in the 3rd round although he’s been pitching better lately so maybe won’t last that long.

A couple of thoughts: 1) I think Kiley is totally right that the distribution of talent in this year's draft (a lot of HS bats and a lot of not quite top tier college arms with big question marks) is going to make it hard to save money in round 1 and float it later. 2) I think Kevin Parada is somehow being undervalued in all of this and I think he might be a better prospect than Henry Davis was. He doesn't have as advanced an approach but he's a significantly better athlete with more raw power (imo) and is entering the draft a year younger than Davis did. 3) I would be kinda surprised if Brock Jones drops into the first competitive balance round and would like him for the Sox with their first pick tbh. Real two sport guy with all the tools in the world combined with a fairly advanced approach. Actually, now that I've written that out I'm not really sure. Feels like Jones, Melton, and Beavers have kinda dropped into this shared bucket of tooled up PAC 12 outfielders. 4) Gonna be interesting to see where the respective jumbles of high school pitchers and college arms with big question marks shake out.
