Man, we're really going to have a CF Rafaela 2B Yorke SS Mayer 3B/DH Devers 1B Casas Lineup Insanity So you’re ruling out Duran on being special?

Summation: Potential up-and-down utility type. Ceiling of a high-quality, defense-first utility player. Defense and speed are his best tools. Could be a plus defender at every position except catcher and first base. Bat lags behind. Raw at the plate and needs to develop an approach, but if that takes a step forward, could shoot up the system rankings.
Might be time to update his player profile. What is his Ceiling?? And is he going to crack the next top 100 rankings? And where does he eventually fit in Sox prospects? Big 3 then Bello then Rafaela??

I do love the update, but that's not a profile update. That's an article. He' still a "Potential up-and-down utility type."

I thought a new profile might be on the way - nice job. Small waistline small bonus dollars. Scouts get lucky sometimes glad he took the $10k.

Kids been a gamer since he took a fastball to the head at 12 and ate it like it was a crackerjack in the LLWS
Just a ball player. I look forward to watching his continued emergence

My buddy is from Worcester (we went to college there) and I've been wondering whose number I'll put on the back of the WooSox jersey I inevitably buy. It's going to be Rafaela's number.

This organization is so good at developing position players historically. Since advent of draft. Pretty much regardless of GM. Yet , beyond awful at developing pitching.

Man, we're really going to have a CF Rafaela 2B Yorke SS Mayer 3B/DH Devers 1B Casas Lineup Insanity I love the optimism, but only two of those guys have ever made it to AAA. One's an all star and the other has had his ankle on ice for almost a month. The rest have yet to see any advanced pitching (and Yorke has swooned since April and may have to adjust his plate approach when he comes back from the IL). ADDED: I just saw Rafaela was promoted to Portland, so he's seeing it. I love what he's done so far, but let's give him at least 100 or so PAs at that level to see if he's still headed to the top of the charts.

I'd think Rafaela needs to be more selective at the plate to be a leadoff hitter. That's really the only part of his game that's not great. He's got the D in multiple positions, growing power, and a good hit tool, but the BB/K ratio does not scream "leadoff hitter", at least not yet. And of course Devers can't be penciled in until the Red Sox are ready to shell out top $.

Great defense and likely bottom order lineup batter with some pop to hit 10-15 hrs. Still a very valuable player to have.

Great defense and likely bottom order lineup batter with some pop to hit 10-15 hrs. Still a very valuable player to have. That got me looking up JBJ's SP scouting report: Bat - Solid-Average (52.5) Power - Below-Average (45) Field - Plus-Plus (70) Arm - Plus (60) Speed - Average (50) I was surprised, looking back, that he wasn't expected to hit for more power. He had nine home runs in his only full season in the minors (he was rushed to the Majors in 2013 after being drafted in 2011). His walk rates were pretty good and K-rate was better than what Ceddane has shown so far. But I'd be pretty content if he turns into JBJ 2.0. soxprospects.com/players/bradley-jackie.htm

Remember when people used to say of JBJ "If that kid can just hit .220, he can still play with that glove and arm"? Well, he's hitting .222 and that's with the whole league's BA depressed.
Lotta RBIs in that glove and CS (caught stretching) in that arm...

Rafaela made a sweet defensive play today. His defense is really strong!

Can we ever get an update on his height? Is he still 5'8" like when he signed at 16 or 17?
