What in the world is that 3rd-and-1 call by McDaniels? He is having an awful game, even by his dreadful standards.

Statistically this defense is good, but it feels like they never step up in big moments. The Pats finally get the lead, and the defense lets the Chargers waltz right up the field. They stepped up at the end of the 1st half twice and earlier made them punt from the endzone after 3 and out at the 5. They have been stepping up a bit. It's all about pressure, I hope they have some wrinkles to throw at them late. I think the Chargers have been getting lucky so far. That 3rd down is a perfect summation of the defense this season. They’re really solid and keep the team in it, but they don’t step up when they really need to make a play.

Defense stepping up.
How about a 7+ minute drive.

D has given up 3 points this half and scored 6 points.

Now let’s see what this team is really made of. They shouldn’t have issues against this run defense

Gosh this team really lacks discipline.

Wow isn’t that funny how play action works.
Note: the national hate of Mac Jones is tangible

Really impressed with Mac here. He hasn’t played well at all today, but his composure down the stretch in winning time - on a night when he’s off - is really impressive.

Both holding calls were the reason for the big runs, not like a guy on the other side that had no impact on the play. Still sucks, yet without them you don't get the big runs. Maybe but on the Wynn one there is a possibility Harris gets that corner, at least it looked like it on the replay.

All of a sudden 10-7 seems feasible with a 6-3 finish. This team has a lot of room for improvement when you consider all the new faces.
Mac might not have looked as great today but they opened up the passing game a lot.

Remember when people were complaining about trading up for Barmore because “value”?

Beat a good team on the road after coming close to beating other good teams. Now they know they can do it. 3-5 and the season is pretty much over, now 4-4 in the AFC this yr puts them in the hunt. Only 4 teams 2 games ahead and they aren't looking that special.

Remember when people were complaining about trading up for Barmore because “value”? No but that’s ridiculous. I think Belichick was looking at Barmore at 15 until Jones fell.

Flipping the script - they realistically could have won 7 of the first 8 games, all with a rookie quarterback.

Imagine if they didn’t lose to Miami? To be fair, that was still the good version of the Dolphins which lasted for exactly one game this season. The Pats just got unlucky there.

Remember when people were complaining about trading up for Barmore because “value”? It was a bad value trade, you over paid by every draft chart I've looked at. Like a said at the time, like the player hate the trade. Yet I'm confused because while we've seen glimpses, he hasn't been a force all season. He entered today's game with a 49.9 PFF rating. You could have had Rondale Moore WR, Tylan Wallace WR and Daviyon Nixon DT. Moore has a 76.7 grade and Nixon has a 67.5 rating yet just got injured. If you want to play this game, you wanted Harry in the first right?
