Also, can we talk about how freaking good Mac Jones is? I know several of us had been calling this from the predraft process (take a bow for those of you who did your homework). But he’s having one of the great rookie qb seasons of all time with a bunch of 3 and 4 receivers and a middling offensive line. His tape was great, yet he didn't look like this. He's been hit more in one game than his whole college career. The fact he can play this way is so crazy impressive because we've only seen a little of what he did in College like that 75 yard bomb to Bourne. He looks like Ian Book did at Notre Dame, yet you know he can go deep unlike Book. They are just starting to open up the playbook, like things are just going to keep improving. I don't know if I agree with describing the talent around him that way. Yeah he lacks an elite #1 type guy, yet the talent as a whole is rather good. He has more offensive talent than Brady did for years. That depth is really helping him as he doesn't have to force anything to one or two guys. Just spread it around to the open players. Add one elite guy like Chase Claypool and you'd be in the conversation of one of the most talented offenses not named Tampa Bay. I don’t know what to say about Mac having rather good talent around him this season. Other than no. At least not now. His weapons aren’t really doing much after the catch unless somethings blocked for them, and forget about 50-50 balls. Brady had one season that I can recall in which his offense was this bad, 2006. His backs were Dillon and Faulk, his tight ends were Watson and Graham, his wideouts were Troy Brown, Reche Caldwell, Jabar Gaffney. His line was better (just trust me). I think Brady’s weapons were better that year. Feel free to respond, I won’t any further :-)

Edelman > Myers and White > not White, but after that the #3/4/5/6 options and the running back are far far superior to 2019 (which was so bad as to drive Brady away). I'd rather have a clear #1 WR but a wide set of #2/3 options fits decently well with Mac's skills too.

Brady had bad weapons till 2007, go look it up. Those were the days Bill would run it three straight times and punt multiple times a game. We won on the back of the D and Brady making magical plays when we needed them. It's why he averaged 24.5 TDs per season before 2007, then 50 when he got elite weapons.

I'm getting a little tired of JC Jackson talking like he's prime Revis Island. Glad he's confident, but he's not THAT good himself and our team isn't there yet either.

JC Jackson is allowing QBs to have a rating of 64.7 as the top CB. Gilmore in 2018 was 73.9 and in 2020 it was 75.7. He's doing darn well, especially considering he's already faced the Bucs and Cowboys with their darn good passing attacks. The issue isn't him. He's doing that without a CB like him on the other side and a defensive that isn't getting the same level of pressure that 2019 team did.
It's time for Collins, Uche and Perkins to step up. Winovich turned into a pumpkin and is now injured. Barmore has been making plays inside, yet we need another guy to step up opposite Judon. That DL making more plays is crazy important for our secondary. QBs have been getting way too much time.

Some comic relief… if you are on Twitter and need some comic relief from a politically neutral troll. Ned is the guy to follow.

On one hand, that should have been called forward progress. On the other hand, you can’t give up on that play until you hear a whistle.

Three shots from the one yard line and they didn’t run it once. What the ****, McDaniels?

Why are they throwing 50/50 fades to Jakoby Myers on 4th and goal? This team can’t stop the run!

Once again, getting five yards a pop on the ground, let’s start throwing the ball instead!

Unless you have Brady throwing to peak Gronkowski and then it is still low odds. Tough play to make. One yard line and you throw it 3 times. I hope and think the running game will come around in the 2nd half and the Pats will win. Stevenson will make a difference. hopefully a good one.

They start running to start the 2nd half and the routes open up. Funny how that works

This team can’t get out of its own way. They do all the little things to lose.

Bengals looking good at 5-2 after beating the 5-1 Ravens lose to the Jets. Parity!

It’d be nice if Wynn could make it through one game without a massive error.

Both holding calls were the reason for the big runs, not like a guy on the other side that had no impact on the play. Still sucks, yet without them you don't get the big runs.

Statistically this defense is good, but it feels like they never step up in big moments.
The Pats finally get the lead, and the defense lets the Chargers waltz right up the field.

There were 2 interference calls missed against the Chargers on that last drive.

They stepped up at the end of the 1st half twice and earlier made them punt from the endzone after 3 and out at the 5. They have been stepping up a bit. It's all about pressure, I hope they have some wrinkles to throw at them late. I think the Chargers have been getting lucky so far.
