Rogers out for Sundays game against KC… tough break for the Patriots… sucks they lost that Miami game.

Sucks that when OBJ gets cut the Pats are no longer the team that will get him cheap.

More interested in Vernon Hargreaves for corner depth anyway. Urban probably gonna claim him though

JC Jackson missed practice Wednesday due to an Illness, obviously not COVID so hopefully he will recover in time with those IV drips to be ok.

I want no part of OBJ, he's tops on his team in targets and still causing issues. That's the last thing a young QB needs. The Browns seem to be playing an offense like ours, spread the ball around. He needs an offense that is just built around a few players. Even then he has the lowest catch percentage among the top six guys in targets at 50%. Maybe raise your catch percentage OBJ before you complain about more targets.

I’m not worried about OBJs hands, guy has great hands and can get open. It’s a mute point anyways, Patriots are no longer a team that can get that guy anyways. By the way, all the top receivers want the ball and they’ll get it even with a spread it around attack.

I will say the best argument against OBJ right now, is that it’s proven difficult for the Patriots to work a WR into their offense, especially mid season, so while I’d still take him and even want him, it may not work out until next season.

Looks like Cleveland is restructuring his deal to make him a more viable claim for another team. NE might not get the chance.

I read the reason for the restructure was to owe him less after he cleared waivers. I suppose it goes hand in hand and we will see the numbers but I can’t imagine him giving up a ton of money

A team trying to win, with the same record as us is going to just release him. Think about that for a second, even Randy Moss wasn't released when we got him. It's almost unheard of for a team to release a player like him. I absolutely want no part of him with a rookie QB. Browns are doing exactly what we are, spreading the ball around.
OBJ hasn't it rock bottom like Moss did, people thought he was finished and there's no Brady to control him. Even then Moss caused troubled and we moved on.

It would be scary if he goes to the Cheifs, I could see the Packers as a good fit. Get Tom another weapon? Lol maybe the Raiders after releasing Riggs.
Anyone catch what Toney said about Riggs? I don't know what's worse, his writing skills or defending one of the most extreme crazy deadly things an NFL player has done in recent memory. Florida what type of College are you running? It's about time the combine adds an IQ test.

Not sure where it landed.

Toney came into the league off-the-field concerns (there were a few gun issues at Florida [no charges] but more was hinted at); punching a dude his first good week and then saying "we all make mistakes" to a killer don't help with those worries.

So the rework contract just voids the last two years of OBJ contract, yet there was no dead or guaranteed money left anyways. So why do that? If a team was going to claim him, having two years at 15 million per is a positive. It doesn't workout you cut him, if it does two years 30 million isn't horrible. It's like they did him a favor, which I certainly don't understand given what he's done.

I know his Dad posted a video and I know he’s asked to be traded. But what transpired since the trade deadline?

I kind of wanted OBJ on the Patriots because I thought he could help out. Then I read a piece on ESPN that reported he was consistently running his own routes mid play, and Baker basically had no idea what he was doing.
No thanks. That would never work in an offense built on timing and precision.

It's more like what didn't happen, go read the many articles. This has been building for years. It's why I don't mind Simmons trade me and I'm staying away. He's as anti a Patriot player as you can find. Want a perfect example? After games he talked to the other teams about trading for him in front of his teammates and that's not just this year.

Well if OBJ refused to participate or tried to submarine the team then I’d have a different take on him, hence my question. I haven’t read up on him. It seems weird that nothing happened since the trade deadline and now they are just releasing him. Guess it’s piss poor management or there were legitimately zero offers.

Just looking at how he wrote. Did he actually go to college? Did he graduate? I wonder what his papers looked like.

For those too young to remember Dexter Manley graduated high school and stayed eligible to play football at Oklahoma St for 4 years and could't read. That was around 1980.

So you prefer a two faced liar that caused so many issues they just released him and no team would trade for him. That's your choice, I certainly don't understand it though. Go read up, article after article. You can make the choice to not read up, it doesn't just make that crap disappear. Simmons is staying away after his coach and teammates threw him under the bus. OBJ showed up, killed chemistry, had a bad attitude and didn't do what the coaches wanted. I'd call out Simmons in two seconds if he just showed up and tried to destroy the team. That was the smart play money wise. It's what James Harden did and it got him traded rather fast. Only thing I fault the Browns for was not trading OBJ in the offseason. The writing was on the wall last year, 3-3 with him and 9-3 without him. Mayfield had the best stretch of his career after OBJ went down. Think about that, one of the most naturally gifted receivers I've ever seen, yet he's such a headcase that his team is better without him.

Also, Simmons did show up and work to hurt the team but doing nothing. When I made my comments about wanting OBJ it was strictly football field related. Not claiming to know everything about his off field stuff, hence the questions. Also, in football it’s easier to move on from guys, especially one with no guarantees so it’s apples to oranges.
