Miami does not want the ball back in Mac’s hand with 4 downs

F- playcalling by McDaniels today. He just can’t get out of his own way sometimes. What are you talking about?

Bad penalties and 2 turnovers. That’s how you lose by 1.
Really excited about Mac, he looked very good against a quality defense

This game makes me very worried. Has Belichick lost his edge? Why was New England so very undisciplined? The strength of this offense was supposed to be the offensive line and the running backs, and both were neutralized by penalties and fumbles.

Patriots outgained the Dolphins 393 to 259 and won the time of possession battle 36:43 to 23:17. Ugly, brutal loss.

I think we’ve gotten so excited that we have overlooked how many new pieces there are to this team. It’s going to take time

Pats had too many times when it was 1st and 20 or pinned inside the 20 for Mac to overcome yet he still did until the fumble. Can someone explain to me what happened when Cam threw the ball at the feet of the RB on the play that was a sack/TO/grounding call in the first drive down inside the 20. I saw it but was in a place with a band playing and didn't get what was called but it was 2 and 23 so they didn't buy the throwing it at the feet bit. Seemed like a very questionable call, of which there were a few. Like the Stevenson fumble.

I think he got spun around and lost his bearing and thought he was throwing forward instead of backward and did it because he wanted an incompletion instead of a loss. But a mistake for sure and one he will learn from.

Yes he will learn from that for sure. My one negative thought about Mac yesterday is it seemed their were times when the ball was in he air a little bit too long, not enough zip on some throws that called for more zip.

They started off with a very conservative offense with a lot of short throws but opened it up a little more in the second half. Mac had a few good longer reads and throws in the second half. Patriots receivers struggled to win one-on-one battles but the Dolphins have a good secondary and Mac being good under pressure was a good sign.
On the concerning side, Patriots cornerbacks did not look great and the linebackers looked a little slow.

And their offensive line was not good

Miami is a good team with a good defense and they could be scary when they get Preston and Fuller back.
Hard to really complain about much given Mac Jones was better than you could have realistically excepted. You have a QB that can run our offense. Bill always gets his teams to improve as the season goes along, the one outlier being with Newton last year.
I didn't like the Stevenson benching, you didn't dress Taylor, so you are using Bolden. It was clear he was a huge part of the game plan and then he's just gone. Let's hope this isn't like Harris his first year. Especially because I'm not even sure that was a fumble.
Outside of two fumbles and holding call by Wynn they actually did exactly what you wanted them too. They out gained Miami by a large margin, had the ball more and ran our offense.

So, yes Miami is good but if not for us being excited that Mac Jones looks legit, this is a horrible loss at home to a division opponent. Which is why I’m so confused today, this is a loss they are going to be regretting all year.

Also, regarding Stephenson, he was in after his fumble and got steamrolled by Roberts so I’m not so sure we can blame the benching on the fumble.

The Pats out played a good team yesterday and should have won regardless of the mistakes that persisted most of the game, then the final nail was the Harris fumble. OK horrible but considering it is game one with many good things to take away from it along with BB using it as an opportunity to tell them they suck and have a long way to go, hopefully it is a stepping stone rather than a yearlong regret. Does JJ dress next week and do they sit Stevenson?

Agholor looked good. If he keeps playing like that he will make the Pats look smart. Or at least make me look dumb.

I questioned that signing the most out of all of them and he looked the best out of all of them. That’s not to say I disliked the signing, but if he does that every week it’s def worth it. We can hopefully expect some improvements from him too as he gets healthier

Mac looked good but the receivers were taking to long to seperate leaving Mac prone to get hit more than he needed to. Finally late in the game the use of the TE's was really successful to open the field up and get the ball out. Long season, Mac is not a huge man, hope McDaniels gets his TE's involved earlier next week.

Yeah bad loss, yet it's only one to a good team. It wasn't the Jets.

But if I had to choose Mac being good and a loss versus the opposite then yes i agree

I saw somebody criticizing that throw he made that got defended well by Jason McCourty acting like he has a noodle arm…..to me it was pretty clear he was throwing a touch pass and isn’t 100% used to nfl playing speed
It’s not a cannon but it’s definitely good enough from what I’ve seen. I’ve seen guys win Super Bowls with less. Common denominator? They’re all elite processors. I think Mac is too

Not a big deal and yes it can improve. He has great touch and throws a lot of guys open hitting the perfect spot but will need to put more zip on some throws. The wheel route over the shoulder to White was a thing of beauty, like a loaf of bread dropped in his hands.
