Does that mean he's probably out for the rest of the regular season? Not saying he is. Just asking. Id assume he doesn't pitch in the Yankees series? They said "tightness", which I think covers everything from mild soreness that will be gone tomorrow, to a clean rip of the muscle all the way through. Thanks for the response. I wonder when they'll know to what degree?

Quick google search indicates 2-3 weeks for a minor pectoral strain. At this point even the most minor injury can be season ending..... Of course, if there is any kind of tear or it is somehow related to a shoulder injury then it might be March 2022 before he is back.

Radio booth just said LEFT PECTORAL TIGHTNESS.
Can only hope that he noticed it before he could hurt it and he was lifted mostly as a precaution.

I was hoping he'd be available for a Wild Card game and possibly beyond.

Looks like Cora is still lacking in conviction with Barnes with Richards coming on.

GRich to close it out, right move going by the numbers. Lowest xFIP of RS relievers: Barnes (2.7), Whitlock (3.2), Richards (3.5)

The ROBLENATOR will try to get a hold. Will he? If he does, Sawamura gets the win ha ha. The entire definition of "winning pitcher" makes zero sense. Literally. Whoever was pitching just before the time your offense takes the lead for good? Seriously? And provided he pitches five innings, but only if he's the starter? None one of those three clauses is justifiable.
How about: the pitcher who contributes most to winning the game? As measured by Win Probability Added. of course. Unless they qualify for a save, in which case you go to the next pitcher. That's because WPA is easy to rack up pitching the ninth, and that's a different thing that we already measure.
Right now Robles is in line for the New Win.

NGL Robles has been a decent pickup! His first appearances were shaky, but he came around. I was completely puzzled by that move at the deadline...I guess CB is a better GM than me...who knew... Sneaky interesting trade. Hansel struggled in late June and July, including coughing up a 3-run lead in his final MIN appearance before the trade. But he had 10 saves for them early (the defending AL Central champs who figured to compete coming out of spring training) and clearly has decent stuff for the coaching staff to work with. MIN also threw in some cash to cover his salary, presumably to keep BOS under the tax bar.

I wonder when they'll know to what degree? Good way to find out if Richards can be a part time closer as opposed to a three inning pitcher. Hard to trust Barnes at this point although Cora will likely give him a shot at closing if the situation allows.

Nice stress free save for Richards.
Great series. Thankfully the Orioles suck. Worried about Whitlock.

If the Yankees lose and Oakland wins, they’re tied in the loss column

First traditional (1.0 IP) Save of Richards' career.
He had 0.2 and 1.2 IP saves in 2012 and 2013.

Scherff hasn't pitched for the Twins. Not sure what happened there

Sweep - what a great word! Beautiful thing!
Tampa 6.5 game lead, but Boston 86-65, Toronto 84-65, MFY about to be 83-67.
