Two runs on two solo dongs. Last game it was three runs on two sac flies and a dropped can of corn. Can't remember their last hit with RISP. (Sorry, I forgot that RISP doesn't matter...) that's right - it doesn't matter what we see, and doesn't matter on the scoreboard. It's just all about how the numbers can be manipulated to success. There, I corrected it again...

Can't wait to hear the excuses for our offense tonight. We had 12 line drives with a velocities of 122MPH with an expected hit rate of .823. Bad luck. Bad umpiring. Are you guys really incapable of making a distinction between this game and, say, the Saturday game against the Yankees? The offense obviously looks much worse tonight.
It's not even some sabermetric thing; it was obvious watching the game Saturday that they were hitting a ton of line drives that were finding gloves. And it's obvious from watching this game that they're totally anemic.

"Rather incredible to think that the Red Sox have 3 hits in the game".
Maybe not in the way you mean it, sir.

And. It. Doesn't. Matter. I watch the Sox to see them win. Beyond that - luck, velocities, etc - just all noise and bullshit to me. But that's just me.

Interesting stat from the Jays-Yankees game. Ryu a pitcher who doesn't walk anyone, know for pinpoint control, was at 93 pitches through 4 innings. How long can MLB let this nonsense go on? It's brazen and blindingly obvious.

You're missing the point. We're at the point of the season where results matter. I don't care about virtual stuff like most of the time that's a hit but bad luck. What difference does it really make? The actual results on the field are all that matters regardless of luck or not.

A rally of all rallies needed against a team who has 106 losses.

I think the Red Sox will move Bobby D this offseason for some arms. Mr. Casas will be your starting 1B next year or Devers will get turned his 3B play is completely below average. Honestly, the best thing that could happen would be for JD to opt out. It would give them a few more options

The actual results on the field are all that matters regardless of luck or not. Do you think anyone doesn't understand that? Do you think anyone citing EVs and BABIP is saying that wins and losses don't matter? They're just trying to understand the game in a deeper way.
Personally I don't care if other people are indifferent to that stuff. I could do without the mockery of it though.

It seems like the Sox get burned by weak contact all the time. They need to sit down with their defensive coaches and hand them all pink slips.

Nothing like giving up a crucial 2 out insurance run. The fact that it was a soft blooper really isn't any consolation.
This team would have rallied in April thru July.
Let's see what this team is made of now. I suspect I know the answer. Hope they surprise me.

I'd almost rather the Sox lose now and miss the playoffs than make the playoffs and completely get embarrassed by an actually good team. I'd rather them just fade away to anonymity at this point and then watch at least two of Tampa/NYY/Toronto lose in the playoffs having given up more prospects at the deadline and get a worse draft pick next year.
