Terrible loss.
Defense still good at least!

And there it is - pulling defeat out of the jaws of victory. Wow - lots of work to do.

This organization has turned into a clown show.
At some point, we need to acknowledge that this group isn’t good enough. The talent is there to be a good team, but their supposed stars are the most mentally soft “great” players you’ll ever see.

Can someone tell me why the Cleveland Cavaliers are acting like they just won an NBA championship? They do know this Celtics team isn’t very good, right?

Terrible loss. Defense still good at least! There are literally zero moral victories when you blow an 18-point lead with 15 minutes left. None, nada, zip. This team is led by soft players who don’t value winning, and they haven’t upgraded their coaching staff to boot. The future looks bleak.

Terrible loss. Defense still good at least! Hold it right there. This Cleveland Cavs offense is pretty bad.

Is anyone really confident in a team whose best player is Jayson Tatum? It’s fair to ask if he even values winning.

Interesting to ponder - Celtics are 6-7, Bruins 7-5, Patriots 5-4. Boston sports joy will be with the Red Sox for the foreseeable future in my view.
As far as tonight - something is clearly missing - team can't hold leads, makes it tough on itself even when up big, bench isn't scoring, Tatum and Smart combined 8 for 27 with 8 turnovers. Sure, Horford and Brown were out tonight - but no one is really stepping up (Schroeder can't do it all). Looking to be a tough learning curve for Ime.

Ime on Tatum post game, NESN website
"Celtics head coach Ime Udoka talked about what he has seen after the loss.
“A little frustration on missed shots. He’s letting it effect him on the other end and you just got to. He’s having some tough shooting nights. We’ve talked about him impacting the game in other ways,” Udoka said. “But he got frustrated and played into the crowd a little bit. He had some turnovers there late, some sloppy ones and like I said he has to be able to impact the game when he’s not scoring in the ways he has in the past, which he can do.”

One huge problem is that opponents know they can outhustle a win out of the Celtics at this point. There is 2 straight years of evidence. There is no such thing as transitioning to garbage time to turn a big lead into an easy win. That's an awful rep to get and they just keep making it harder.

Is anyone else as mentally disturbed as I am, in that I feel that Celtics loss means the Patriots will also lose to Cleveland? I know it doesn’t but I’m an idiot. Or maybe, I can spin it that the home teams win.

Or maybe, I can spin it that the home teams win. Well there has been so symmetry to the teams these past few weeks. When one wins they all win and vice versa. Lets just hope the Pats follow the B's and win rather than the currently hapless C's. Just want to point out that Tatum has a bit of a history of starting slow. I am rather confident he will meet and build on the player he was last year as the season goes on. His FG% isn't going to end the season below 40 and his 3's will start to fall at better than 32%, pretty sure that is guaranteed. I have a feeling this team is going to be a lot better in the 2nd half.

Darkest before dawn probably for all 3 of those, so far, less than stellar Boston teams. Who can complain about the Pats after their epic run tho? They'll be back. Bruins always seem in the hunt by season end. C's appear in bridge time (to somewhere) and are the organization I have least confidence in. Brad must be thanking the stars that he got out. Imagine the vitriol if he were still coaching. Tatum is still trying to be Black Mamba 2.0, isn't and won't ever be...Horford is playing above his age but there is no upside with Father. Schroeder is a one season patch on a seeping wound. What the hey with Romeo, Nesmith, Pritchard and the demise of our collective 3 point shooting? Is the welcome emphasis and exertion on defense taking a toll on the offensive end? At this point we have Tatum, Brown and the Lord to look forward to. If we continue the current mode, it will force big shakeups. And that, at least, is something to look forward to.

For a coach that preached team ball and playing as a team, Ime sure hasn't really done that.
Tatum percentage of FGs assisted two pointers 56.5, 49.7, 43.3, 38.3, 31.6. 3 pointers 92.4, 85.3, 54.5, 46.5, 47.1
2018 playoffs 51.0 and 56.5 2020 playoffs 37.8 and 63.8
Brown 53.6, 57.1, 47.7, 45.3, 42.3. 3 pointers 96.7, 96.8, 88.4, 79.8, 69.6
2018 playoffs 46.3 and 88.6 2020 playoffs 60.6 and 93.0
Tatum is below LeBron James career numbers of 34.5 and 47.3.
Clear as day Tatum changed during those 2020 playoffs into a crazy iso player and he's not LeBron. So he needs to get back to team play. Yet he's also not this bad either, like I'm putting everything I own on buying low on him right now!
This teams issues dating back to those 2018 playoffs has been the offense, not the defense. It comes and goes on extreme levels. 2018 it was just young players, yet they played the right way. Ime is just making things worse by just focusing on D! Offense takes less effort, Offense is more important during the regular season. Focus on offense with the Starters and make your second unit the engery unit that focus on D. I miss Brad Stevens.

Good news for UMass no double big lineups tonight I don't want one of the guys not playing, I want him anchoring the bench and changing the rotations.

I was listening to something where they were discussing how Richardson and Tatum are very close friends. Take that fir what it’s worth but could partially explain that move to get him then extend him right away Dump Bruno and get Harry Giles, I do that type of crap all day long to make Tatum happy. If the right move comes up, bye bye Richardson and I actually really like the player. He's also very similar to Langford though and this team needs shooting.

I really see a scenario in 3-4 years where we've catered this entire franchise to Tatum and he underproduces the entire time only to leave and play for the Lakers and in the meantime, we've alienated Jaylen, Rob, and the rest of the useful pieces on this team and we're left in perpetual rebuild mode posting shit like "Banner 18 boogie". Can Tatum actually produce like a star for a reasonable amount of time before we anoint this dude as the next great?!?!!? We don't deliver with him on the court and part of that is running into guys like Durant and Bron but the other side is that he's shooting less than 40% and this season will be 20% over after next week.

Very not sexy
The defense is there!
The offense is the worst thing I’ve seen in my life.
