Wasn't thinking about Conforto. He could be a even nicer fit than Suzuki. Doesn’t Conforto have a QO attached? Yes.

This contract is a doozy. I guess we have him for two years.
Jackie Bradley cf 2 years/$24M (2021-22), plus 2023 option
2 years/$24 (2021-22), plus 2023 mutual option signed by Milwaukee as a free agent 3/5/21 21:$6.5M, 22:$9.5M player option ($6.5M buyout), 23:$12M mutual option ($8M buyout) $3.5M of 2021 salary is deferred, payable $333,333 on Jan. 14, 2022 and $3M on Jan. 13, 2023, and $166,667 on Jan. 12, 2023 $6.5M of player option would be deferred, payable $333,333 on Jan. 13, 2022, and $6.167M on Jan. 12, 2024 $6.5M buyout for 2022 would be payable $3M on Jan. 14, 2022, and $333,333 on Jan. 13, 2023, and $3.167M on Jan. 12, 2024 $8M buyout for 2023 would be payable $1M on Jan. 12, 2024, and $7M on Jan. 15, 2025

If we pick up a solid corner OF I will be over the moon with how this has all gone. JBJ is one of my favorite players and he'd be awesome as a a fourth OF. I wouldn't be surprised to see him bounce back offensively given the familiar setting, especially with how streaky he is; he might be the same old JBJ but just didn't get his one hot month for the year lol
Money shouldn't matter much this year, since we should realistically be blowing through the LT anyway if there aren't major CBA changes. Buying two prospects and getting JBJ back as a flier is dope. I liked Renfroe, but he wasn't likely to be that big of a value this year and next year that'll probably be even more true. So, now we really just need to replace Renfroe. Really hoping for Suzuki as a RF and not Schwarber as a LF, but we'll see what happens!
Based Chaim

If the Sox don't land Suzuki, then JBJ is your starting RF. I don't see it as pumping tires. Schwarber is awful in LF. This is a even worse idea if that's the alternative. Yeah, I honestly don't see Schwarber as a fit with JD back. I also don't see Chaim spending gold coin for 4+ years on Schwarber, which is what it's going to take for the kid from Waltham.

The metrics think Schwarber is surprisingly not that bad in LF

I am talking myself into Alex Binelas I think I'm higher on Hamilton. Speed and defense at least gives him a higher floor.

Yeah, we’ll have to wait to see what comes next, but I don’t like this at all. Trading a 2.3 WAR player with 2 years of control for a -0.7 WAR player and two fringy prospects. Net downgrade of 3.0 WAR I'm inclined to think that 2021 was a high-water mark for Renfroe, rather than a new normal. I like that Chaim traded him while his value was likely to be at its peak.

If the rest of your outfield is Kiké, Verdugo, and JBJ, you can afford a bat-first LFer.

It’s easier to swallow after his 2021 postseason lol

Bloom has spent 19 million on Wacha and JBJ (yeah I know prospects were stapled to JBJ).
That's a lot of money for 2 players I doubt anybody said, "we must obtain these two players!!"
And throw in 6 million for Paxton who's coming off TJS to pitch a partial season and 5 million for a 42 year old pitcher - and these are 2 moves I actually like.
And that comes out to 30 million of serious gambles for 2022. This could backfire on Bloom spectacularly in 2022.

Of course you can only play 3 of them at a time, but you can mix and match with Schwarber getting time at 1B and DH, JBJ coming in as a late-inning defensive replacement, etc.
I think Schwarber, Devers, and Bogaerts are all good players and the team would do well to have all of them on the roster.

Talk about a cliffhanger lol. 25 minutes before the lockout starts this happens and now we have all these questions that won’t be answered for months. Like the season finale of a TV series!

I am talking myself into Alex Binelas I think I'm higher on Hamilton. Speed and defense at least gives him a higher floor. That sounds like a utility guy to me. I’d rather believe they think Binelas can play 3B or COF and are high on his bat. But either way, good haul for one year of Renfroe. JBJ needs to come off the bench though IMO.

Jackie's CBT number is a lot lower than what the Red Sox will actually pay him. Sox are paying an awful lot of money for these two prospects. Henry deserves some credit here from the crew that thinks the Red Sox won't spend money anymore.

Henry deserves some credit here from the crew that thinks the Red Sox won't spend money anymore. The question isn't whether Henry will spend money. The question was and has always been if Henry is willing to pay for a top 10 player in the league. Still, this trade is all about Chaim. He better be right about these prospects. He just got himself into a messy contract when he didn't need to.

This is a very bizarre trade on the surface, but the prospects are intriguing. Worth what JBJ will cost us, well only time will tell. Considering our second base woes, I wouldn't be surprised to see Hamilton make an appearance at some point next season. He'll be 25 and ready to go, his glove projects well up the middle and he's a serious on-base/steal threat. Sad to see Renfroe go, will miss his cannon of an arm out in RF but I get the feeling he'll regress back to his mean offensively.
Definitely goes without saying that we need a corner OFer now. Suzuki is obviously everyone's dream pick but let's be honest, that's probably not happening. Conforto would be a good fit, but he's got the QO. I would check in on Tommy Pham. Good, patient veteran bat. His defensive metrics aren't fantastic but I feel like he'd be better than Schwarber in that regard, and he'd likely cost a lot less.

He’s played 33 games at AA, and his numbers were fair there. That would be a massive jump.

yeah I mean when have the Sox ever been successful with a below average left fielder You're talking worse than dreadful and the Sox only play half their games in Fenway. He really isn’t worse than dreadful out there. He’s below average to bad. Not a butcher. Bat more than makes up for it

I don't imagine it will be until at least the midway point of the season, but it could happen, especially if we're desperate enough for help there. Honestly could see him getting promoted over Jeter Downs at this point lmao.

Henry deserves some credit here from the crew that thinks the Red Sox won't spend money anymore. This feels a little like Hudson Potts and Jeisson Rosario v2. I’m not at all convinced on the value proposition. If we were taking on JBJ’s salary plus the prospects in exchange for cash or a PTBNL (someone mentioned the Ottavino trade), I’d feel better about it.
