What machine gun gesture?
This world is so god damned stupid now. Did they think there were bullets in the bat?

It does not sound as if this is the only reason why he's in the doghouse.

This isn't about an unloaded bat. He hasn't played since July 1st, and the Marlins are not talking about it. Something's going on.

Wow. They gave him a week? The hell? Worst case scenario, I thought he'd be kicked out of kindergarten.

I had this yesterday in the Rays gameday chat. They have spent a lot of money and done nothing but underperform. Injuries have factored in but they're in danger of being passed by the Orioles...
They were a very popular pick to win the division and then make the WS.

I kind of admire it. Sometimes teams just let the manager go on to the end of the year. The Jays can still salvage this if they get it together. On paper they are still a team that could be a nightmare in a post-season series.

Are the Royals really any worse without their players though?

Merrifield basically said he’s get the vaccine if he were on a good team but the games for KC don’t much matter in Toronto so there’s no point. I mean, sucks to say out loud but he’s not wrong.

He is wrong. I mean, there is no principle. If he really thinks it is dangerous or some conspiracy, then he wouldn’t get it at all. This sounds like he just can’t be bothered. It is embarrassing. Can you imagine beibg a fan and having a player say “you aren’t worth it?”

Well, he is costing himself $85,000, which is the amount of salary he's losing for skipping those games. A bit strange that he's committed to the principle of not getting vaccinated enough to pass up $85,000, but not so much that he'd stick to the principle if the Royals had a shot at the playoffs.
Makes more sense if he's just scared of needles. He's willing to pay $85,000 to avoid getting a shot but would overcome his fear if the games really mattered; no inconsistency w/r/t any principles there. (I kind of think a lot of anti-vax attitudes are traceable to people being scared of needles but that being an embarrassing thing to admit as an adult so instead they spin up these weird rationalizations.)

You’re insinuating not getting it based on principle and if he thinks he doesn’t need the vaccine, which he likely doesn’t, then it makes sense a competitive person would give in to get it for a chance to compete for his dream of winning a WS than the $85k that’s really not much money at all to him.

I wouldn't do it for $160M. Being scared of needles is not the reason. It's more that they don't trust government or trillion dollar pharmaceutical corporations and the mass media that they both own. If you have any argument for why anyone should place their trust in these entities, I'm all ears. Since we're allowed to discuss vaccines again...

Mods aren't deleting anything vaccine related so I will discuss it as I wish. I simply was reporting all vaccine posts instead of having discussions because I was showing restraint.

This is why I never buy food - all those giant corporations making billions by getting me to put things in my body. And it's all "regulated" by the FDA of course (we know what that means!). Instead I grow cabbage on the brownfield site across the street and drink water funneled off of my roof. I am very free.

Food is necessary to live, unlike vaccines which don't prevent illness or spread or hospitalization or death, without even talking about the adverse reactions. But given the choice, I will gladly eat food I grow myself over anything bought sprayed with FDA-approved glyphosate which is proven to cause cancer.
