We'll get any injury exception right? Correct, I believe I remember reading it’s for half the value of the MLE Edit: just double-checked, if the league approves it then it would be for $3.2 mill. Can be used both in free agency and in trades. If they go the trade route I would imagine they’d use one of their more valuable TPE’s Does Harrell sign for $3.2? He’s not a perfect fit but he’s a serviceable NBA player that would definitely help out in the regular season. Playoffs is another story but I will say his best series came in 2019 against the warriors. The lakers only gave him ~10 min a game in their 2021 run though. His defense is a bit rough and he’s a 6’7 center so I get the limits come playoff szn. |

Sixers getting Harrel on a 2yr (including player option) deal at the minimum. Good get for them this late in the offseason.

I missed WCS signing with Rockets, that removes the last guy who was just a perfect fit on D. Basically you have Alridge, Cousins and Ed Davis. I don't understand the Melo crap. You could make a case for all 3 and frankly you can make a case against all three. If I had to pick it would be Cousins, he was a beast for Denver in a limited role like he'd have here. His rebounding, scoring and passing are the reasons. Certainly not perfect as he can't anchor a D, yet allows you to rest Rob and AL more.
They likely don't do anything though and wait till deadline. Signing a buyout guy saves you a bunch of money. White/Pritchard are big time trade candidates because they are just way too good to be in the roles they currently have.
You could solve a lot of problems going away from the two big lineups, yet Ime has said that isn't the plan. So if you want to add a veteran it's Cousins for me. Nevermind Cousins and Horford is a great pair to help Robert Williams take the next step on offense. I do have to mention the negative with Cousins is does he fit chemistry wise?

They are going to have no choice but to limit the 2 big lineups where Horford and Williams play together. They don’t need to eliminate it but it will be limited.

I wonder if we see a Grant extension shortly after the year starts. If they offer him something over the MLE on AAV, I think he likely signs. The cap is set to explode so having him at an AAV between 12-15m will be a great deal down the line and for him he’s young enough to hit FA again in his prime. He’s not really good enough at this point for a team in free agency to use cap space to sign, which probably limits him to MLE money so going above that should convince him to sign, I would think…. His improvements have been steady and significant enough and since he’s still 23, it’s worth betting on more upside.

Starting one makes so much sense for most games and given the roster. Helps limit minutes and wear and tear. Allows Brogdon to start along with Smart. Makes White a 6th man and even opens up minutes for Pritchard. Yet they went out of there way to say two big lineups are not going anywhere and Brogdon is the 6th man. |

Makes sense as long as our owner is fully comited to paying big tax bills. Wish you had more than two weeks before the deadline after start of season. I really want to make sure his 3 point shooting isn't just a one year type thing. |

It's the one thing I just don't understand. You've created this super deep team, yet no backup defensive center. Kornet will get destroyed in the playoffs. Seriously Payton Pritchard might not even get minutes, yet Kornet is your backup center to start the season? What he's starting on Horford rest days? Sorry I can't get over Embiid almost hurting him, zero fear. Grant Williams given his rebounding isn't likely a good small ball center. You can hope MK or Vonleh take a step forward, which is possible. I just don’t understand not adding a veteran better than Kornet. Go sign Cousins and send Kornet packing.

So stepping away from my snark for a moment, I do agree this is a weakness (and one that existed even before RW needed the cleanup).
I just think there will be ample opportunities to fill in that hole as the season progresses.
