So stepping away from my snark for a moment, I do agree this is a weakness (and one that existed even before RW needed the cleanup). I just think there will be ample opportunities to fill in that hole as the season progresses. Agreed it’s a weakness, but you literally cannot have a team without a weakness that could get exposed with the right injury. There’s obviously a greater need with their center situation but let’s be realistic. Any backup you get is unlikely to fill the void. It’s why i wish more of an effort was made to get back into the draft and get a young guy there. That’s the best hope of finding a guy who can step in and make something work. That being said, you have all year to trade for a backup or possibly get a buy out guy. |

He showed a complete lack of judgement and discernment. It was consensual, but he was also in a public relationship already. If it was me, I’d fire him. That’s not who I want leading 24 year olds. It’s so weird that they would sit him for a year until bringing him back. That’s uncomfortable for everyone. Fire his ass and get someone with character. |

There are a lot of things you cannot do, and there are certain punishments for different behaviors. Without knowing the full story, I won’t say what should happen. But I don’t think having a consensual relationship automatically should get you fired. We don’t even know their working relationship, do we? Did he control her job? Did he lie to the higher ups? Millions of other questions. |

Unless I'm missing something I don't understand. There's you shouldn't do that you are going to get punished and there's you get fired and lawsuits are being filed type crap. A one year long suspension is crazy, if it's that bad you just fire him, yet that's crazy for an affair that was simply inappropriate. We're missing something or the Celtics are overreacting to the me too movement cancel culture type crap.
When this dropped and we learned what it was I was thinking like 20 games to send a message actions have consequences. You wanted to get crazy half a season. The Sun's owner got a year, what he did was much worse.

Unless firings and lawsuits were involved in Wyc's other businesses so, to ensure that it NEVER happens, he put it in his contracts. Once it's there (if that's the case), it's hard to back out of it.
No comparison with Sarver. 1 was a league decision, the other a team/owner one.

It's possible that someone makes a terrible decision that breaches a contract (and warrants suspension/termination) while also having character. Without any other information, suggestions to the contrary are absurdly ignorant.

While the actions were immoral, the fact that a year long suspension is even being floated is a crazy overreaction. There are people doing worse at every company or organization in the world that will forever go unpunished. It always baffles me how people get their rocks off by getting on a moral high horse and judging others.

IF, and it's a big IF, Wyc put it in the contract, then it is not an overreaction. It's quite possible, he laid it out as such to serve as a massive deterrent (thinking it would be enough such that he'd never have to use it).

I have heard it suggested that this is progressive discipline and he had been warned previously.
Also consider that today's "consensual" can quite easily become tomorrow's harassment lawsuit. Management should not entangle with subordinates, period. Been there done that. Learned. Been there didn't do that ever again.

I'd love to hear the rational if it's bad enough for a 1 year suspension, why isn't he being fired?
Reports now say he's considering resigning.
Top assistant is now Jazz Coach. So is Brad Stevens going to pull a Danny Ainge, coach to GM to coach? Do you bring in another coach with prior head coaching experience? You can't go into next season down your top two coaches without adding talent.

Being the face of leadership in an organization and banging an employee on the side should get you fired. |

Heard from someone in the know that had an affair with the CFO’s wife, was warned to stop, but didn’t.
Knew it had to be a bit deeper than what was released. Really dumb of Udoka though
