I'd love to hear the rational if it's bad enough for a 1 year suspension, why isn't he being fired? Reports now say he's considering resigning. Top assistant is now Jazz Coach. So is Brad Stevens going to pull a Danny Ainge, coach to GM to coach? Do you bring in another coach with prior head coaching experience? You can't go into next season down your top two coaches without adding talent. Agree, it's a weird suspension length. Not enough info out there, only speculation (what's in contract, chain of command, prior warnings all reasonable factors) but the details do matter.

Heard from someone in the know that had an affair with the CFO’s wife, was warned to stop, but didn’t. Knew it had to be a bit deeper than what was released. Really dumb of Udoka though Makes you wonder why the Celts leaked out the info?

Really dumb of Udoka though I've seen this on Twitter, no sources just random people, yet half a dozen so far. Yet now I'm more confused, who's his wife? I don't see any women with his name working for Celtics. You have team rules you can't sleep with peoples wifes? Warned to stop but didn't? What? I'm even more confused now. This isn’t directed at you, I'm just venting because this is crazy and the handling of it even worse.

Really dumb of Udoka though Makes you wonder why the Celts leaked out the info? I doubt the Celtics leaked it. This rumor didn’t come from credible reporters, so most likely someone within the organization was gossiping and the rumor spread like wildfire. If the team wanted this info to get out, they would have gone through the traditional channels.

Coming out now that, while the relationship was originally thought to be consensual, the staffer recently complained about unwanted comments and that lead to the investigation.
If true, THAT is the type of detail that would bring his character into question.

Just fire him and move on. This has been handled as poorly as anything I've seen. What you are now going to wait and fire him later? You need this to end for the sake of next year, time to move on.
Mazzulla the guy they are naming interm coach was charged with Battery against a women for grabbing her by the neck in 2009. Just wait till the Ime story dies down, he's up next and people will be calling for his head.
This feels like Hayward destroying his ankle first game type crap.

From the Patriots coaching mess to the Red Sox contract mess (and team play on the field), we didn't need this Celtics soap opera. I agree - Fire Ime, try to minimize the damage, but as for what the team ends up playing like this year....who knows. What a collection of messes.

If true, THAT is the type of detail that would bring his character into question. But cheating with a coworker’s wife would NOT bring his character into question? At the risk of being a puritanical monster, I’m gonna state that the concept of character is bigger than the me too movement.

Robert Williams out 8-12 weeks after knee surgery. Twice as long as initial estimate. Ugh.

I find it really hard to comment on the Ime situation other than to say there’s a lot we don’t know and it’s easy to sit on the outside and say what an organization should have done etc etc, but these things are messy and they are hard. They truly suck - they involve people you care about, even if they messed up big time.
He’s suspended for a year, he’s clearly out of the picture for this year and it’s way too late to find a new head coach anyways so there should be no difference going forward for this next year whether he was fired or suspended.

Robert Williams out 8-12 weeks after knee surgery. Twice as long as initial estimate. Ugh. LMAO a comedy of things in a row has turned arguably the best offseason in the NBA to the absolute worst. At first: Get Gallo and Brogdon, decent 2nd rounder in JD, no crazy offseason Olympics stuff for major players, time for healing etc Now: Lost Head Coach, lost godly big for a massive chunk of season, lost Gallo Not looking great folks. Not sure how Al is going to carry that type of load without a second legitimate big for that long. Could be in for a rough start to the season under Mazzula.

At the time of the comments, it was reported as a consensual relationship with Ime having been separated from Nia Long. Poor decision, yes. Bad character? No. Now that more information is coming out on all fronts, it is very much appropriate to question his character. At the time, though, there was enough missing from the story to leave character judgements out of it.

By not giving more information the Celtics mgt just invites people to speculate. We know HC not dropped for a relationship with someone from the organization. Too drastic. As the ESPN ex-NBA guy said in so many words: 'I supported Udoka but after being briefed I'm not now.' I give the story 1 week (or less). Too many people know the particulars to keep quiet in a rumor filled league. I thought of a couple of things but am not interested in slamming a guy whose private life I know nothing about.
Some speculation is that if Mazzula faulters B.Stevens will come out of the FO and finish the season. Then hire a new coach in the off-season.

I don’t know how anybody could possibly think the Celtics handled this poorly. To quote a friend: ”A woman made a serious accusation, the team hired an independent law firm to investigate, then rather than cover up the findings they acted with a severe penalty despite great cost (both in esteem and their chances to succeed on the court) to the team itself.” Literally what more could you want? This is absolutely not an appropriate time to go in depth here, especially since I’m sure lawyers from both Udoka and the Celtics side are involved. As far as Mazzulla goes he’s been here for years- what he did in college was Shitty but it was over a decade ago, they vetted him thoroughly when they hired him and are satisfied with who he is now, and he has the respect of the players. Ime is being a scumbag now, in the present. And it probably violates language in his deal too. nba.nbcsports.com/2022/09/23/celtics-investigation-of-udoka-found-multiple-violations-of-team-policy/amp/I get why people are upset by this result as Ime is a good basketball coach and he had a bright future here but he pissed that away by harassing people. It is what it is. I have more respect for the organization for being willing to actually walk the walk when it comes to protecting women in sports instead of doing the usual lip service we get from other orgs across the sports world Make no mistake about it- he’s not coaching another second here. That announcement is a matter of when, not if imo

The handling it bad isn't the suspension, it's the leaks. It wasn't just once either they kept coming for over 24 hours. First Ime facing major suspension, then why, then it's likely a year, then who it was, then it was claims made, then he was thinking about resigning. The leaks made this worse and caused harm to all women in the Celtics organization. Stevens is upset at Twitter, well find the leaks and plug that hole.
He's likely not coaching again here, almost everyone agrees with that. Why wasn't he fired? Multiple violations, internal investigation, it's not that they couldn't. My opinion, rather than just cut the cord and move on, they want the option if things get bad to bring him back or more likely they want to trade him like Doc Rivers. Imagine them waiting on the announcement causing this mess because they are debating what they can get for him. So suspension over being fired.
No matter your thoughts about second chances, you just moved on from a coach for unwanted comments and appointed a coach who literally choked a women. Zero issues with moving on from Ime, yet the optics of his replacement is horrible. One thing when he's a low level assistant or coaching G league, he's now the face of the franchise, the leader of a the team, the guy shaping your young mens futures.
To think a few days ago I was being picked on for complaining about a defensive backup center. Those were the good old days.

The leak said “consensual” if you recall and the Celtics have Never used that word once. Sounds to me like Ime’s camp was trying to get out in front of it And again, they’ve vetted that plenty in re: to Mazzulla. I think If the players and staff don’t have a problem with his character over a decade later and feel he’s a different person then I don’t have a problem with it. We shall see. In re: to why he isn’t fired yet- there are probably lawyers involved at the moment.

Yea, we don’t know where the leaks came from. It could have been anywhere - can believe what you want but it’s a pretty baseless belief. We don’t know why he was suspended over fired; we don’t know the story at all. Everything is speculation. It’s ok to not have an opinion on something and just not know when there’s a lot of missing information. In fact, this is a better approach to life than making assumptions.

With regards to Mazzula. He had incidents when he was 20 and 21 years old. He went to counseling and treatment, gave up drinking and has been sober for 12 years with nothing since. If people are going to hold those things against him, as if they say who he is today then I don’t know what to say. Those aren’t excusable things he did and by all accounts he’s the first to say this, but by all accounts he’s use those things to better himself and that’s what we want.

I guess Mia Long just spoke and she moved to Boston 2 weeks ago with no knowledge . So I guess he finally fess up to her because he knew it was getting out. They been engaged since 2015.
I guess he had a code of conduct guideline he agreed to. My work ever year they make us rewatch a video to make sure we know our code of conduct.
I mean some of this gets leaked but not everything. Then people start wondering. Just unreal. I hope the Celtics rebound from this.

Btw the only way they can shut down the BS speculation is if they name the woman/women involved
And that’s the stupidest thing they could ever do. So I don’t buy this narrative that they handled it poorly, it’s full of crap.

The Celtics from what I watched of the press conference didn't say anything more than he broke team rules/violations. Shams tweet what you talked about also said what he did, not just consensual. So you think he completely outed himself? I find that highly unlikely. So you think all information was from Ime? Otherwise where did it come from? Where did the non stop flow of information come from? There shouldn't have been many people at that point with everything. Owner even said the tweets started right after they got the report a few days ago. How many people have seen that report? If they sent it to the whole organization, that's on them. Informative only a few people should have had leaked and that's what made this much worse than it should have been. So yeah I blame them.
