Out of King’s list, Hartenstein’s the best bet to me. I think he’s really good. I think we should all be nervous about Robert Williams’ health. He hasn’t been consistently healthy in his career, and had major red flags entering the league. Hartenstein isn’t a game changer like Williams, but he is solid at most things and is one of the best rim protectors in the league.

Theis contract is the only reason I wasn't higher on that one. Agree he's on the rise.

So far we've used four second round picks on that trade exception and have gotten 21 games of Fournier. It's also why I wasn't pro Theis trade even though I love the guy. His contract isn't good and we could have got two 2nd round picks instead of trading for him. You don't use that trade exception because of Theis and the tax, my biggest reason for not liking that deal. You basically spent 6 second picks on 21 games of Fournier and Theis, that's not smart.
Mfiondu kabengele, go watch his G league highlights last year. 17.5 points, 9.3 rebounds, 1.7 assets, .7 steals and 1 block. Shooting 59.4%, 44% and 80.6%. Biggest change since I watched his draft tape is dribbling ability and a refined low post game. He might need a developmental year, he was rather raw coming out. Yet perfect type of guy for backend of bench to keep costs down.

Zach Klein (Sports Director for Channel 2 in Atlanta) hearing that Atlanta is close to getting Murray (sniff) but it's not for John Collins (who never seemed to make sense for SAS, imo). Instead it could be Gallo and several picks.

Kyrie opting in. Only realistic move for him.

Do NOT understand trading Murray for picks. He's only 25 and has improved 3 years in a row. Not untradeable, not a superstar but worth more than future picks.

Usually you need to bottom out to rebuild, unless you have a chest of Nets picks lol. The problem is the Spurs should have done that years ago when Leonard left. Now it's crazy hard and trading just Murray might not get you a top 3 pick. If you're going to trade Murray you need a fire sale or I don't see the point. Even then you just added 3 first round picks and a guy in the 2nd who some people had top 20 in Chandler. They're closer to being a good team than a bad team, they just need a star player.

www.theringer.com/2022/6/28/23185684/nba-free-agency-chris-boucherInteresting sales pitch for Boucher, who meets what we were talking about with Hartenstein and Not Theis. Less youth, more track record of mediocracy than Hartestein, but can shoot. He did take a big step back this year in TOR this year. Hollinger model has him as WORTH $19.8m, Kram in this article suggests him at half that. Wouldn't pay that but wouldn't mind him on a bargain.

I like CelticsBlog's sentiment (and I'm paraphrasing a bit) that we can take solace in the fact that, somewhere, Brad Stevens is probably working hard on a deal that we haven't even thought of.

Hartenstein passing and upside give him the edge in my book, yet Boucher on mini mid-level isn't bad. Just his assist numbers are horrible, yet he'll play D and rebound. Hartenstein tape surprises me, you don't think he's capable of D like that. Just great instincts, timing and his feet never stop movig.

Russ opts in for $47M. After this upcoming season, will he make another $47M total in the remainder of his career? I say no, but I guess Derrick Rose just got $44m over 3 years. Will Russ get out of bed for that, or retire early?

Interesting look by Jay King playing Brad Stevens ($)Also discusses extension offers for JB and Grant. Kornet stays as vet min since many other options might be seeking more playing time than Celts can offer. Sam Hauser has believers in FO. Running it back might be okay given youth and cohesion-building, but this doesn't solve the Horford/Timelord health concerns. Gonna be tough sledding no matter what to improve on a finals contender.

Another potential TPE target off the board (KCP) has Caldwell-Pope and Ish Smith head to Denver for Monte Morris and Will Barton.
