With the trade and the Gallo signing, Boston is 15M into the tax. Not sure how much more they want to do so, unless some money is going out, I'm not sure they use the big TPE.
EDIT - Smith has them closer to 18 and that doesn't include re-signing Hauser (which has been speculated) or filling out the roster with minimums. Could end up more in the 20 range.

Bryant is either a Vet Minimum or he's not coming here. If TPE is used in a sign-and-trade, then Boston get's hard capped and they are already passed that point. So they'd have to dump salaries at that point. They are not hard capped if they aren’t the one received the signed & traded player. Ayton could be signed and traded to the Nets and the Celtics can be part of it by getting other pieces from the Suns. In theory, whether they’d do it or not is another story.

Think the Gallo and Brogdon adds are perfect so far. Dream world they use the TPE and get someone else who can fit, but kind of doubt they use it now. If they could make a Cam Johnson deal for the smaller one work I'd still love that too, but incredibly unlikely. Hope Bryant can be the big to fill the Theis role, but maybe they add another vet for that role. Feels like Pritchard or maybe even White could be involved in trade talks. We’ll see. I’m a big fan of both but the frontcourt is thin and the backcourt is deep. Thomas Bryant seems like a likely fit for the TPE. What we’ve gained while basically only losing Theis has been crazy impressive. If they sign Bryant then the front court is deeper today with the Gallo signing than it was at the end of the year.

Now with Theis gone there a little thin in the 5-4. I love Timelord but he has to be monitored. I was kinda hoping when he got with our conditioning and strength staff he would overcome the injuries but its always going to be part of his game. He is unreal though.

Grant might be trade bait too before he is due for an extension given Brogdon has 3 more years and Jaylen aiming for a max.

Danny got 4 firsts, Malik Beasley and Walker Kessler for Gobert.
If Danny’s trading with you, you are losing.

This is where Bryant would come in and Jayson Tatum and I are stumping (as we always do) for Harry Giles (can't imagine he actually has much to offer but . . . why not). I'm sure there will be other min Vet FAs to fill in and provide depth. There is also talk that they could split up RWill and Horford which could preserve both in the long run.

Not a big Gallo fan. Feels like a lot of overlap with Grant Williams and can’t really play him as a wing at this point in his career. They really need a true wing but not many of those left. Maybe DiVincenzo? Kessler Edwards and the Martin twins are RFAs. Grant was a lot of fun this year, but it wouldn’t surprise me if he went back to being a pumpkin. Let him prove he can consistently be a shooter before expecting him to be. Gallo is a tried and true shooter, which we lack outside of Pritchard, who is extremely matchup depend on his own right. I think Gallo will balance well with White. If the opponent is hiding one player on offense, let Gallo come in and guard him and get his shots up. If the opponent is going with an offensive lineup (5 weapons), go with the plus defense lineup. Kind of like a platoon for the NBA. Imperfect for sure, but Gallo gives us something we didn’t have enough of. We know the retained personnel can D up against everyone besides GSW, but then again they have the most beautiful offense of all time. The TPE will be an interesting call. If I was Brad, I would keep my eyes on a younger player. Durant could end up really changing the outlook of next year, so sustainability/continuity is definitely key. I think our Defense did a good job against GSW. Our offense failed.

I'm a huge fan of both Gallo and Brogdon. Great day thus far! Get Bryant and let's jam.

I started off the offseason saying I would be ticked off if they didn't utilize the big trade exception.
Getting Brogdon for flotsam I now feel like it's kind of acceptable. If they get a decent backup C it seems like they're set. Maybe even move Pritchard for it.

Three thoughts on Aaron Nesmith.
1. I didn’t like the pick when it happened. “We need a wing shooter.” Not really.
2. I loved the energy he played with and had high hopes for him during his rookie season.
3. The shot looks broke as all hell.

I like Brogdon as a third best player. Gallo was worlds better than the scoring off the bench.
I can see Brad trading Grant Williams now. I hope Brogdon can stay on a extension if it's a nice fit.
The Celtics are the favorites to win the Finals next year. No excuses not to win now.

Brad is impressive as a GM. Danny was after Gallo for years and couldn't get him. I'm sure Danny was whispering in his ear about him all off-season. Brad has won every deal he's had so far in my mind.

I'm just surprised, not that I don't like the moves. It doesn't fit the D first no matter what theme or a coach that likes small rotations. Gallinari, Brogdon and if we get Bryant are huge offensive upgrades for the bench. Yet they aren't close to really good defensive players either. White fit right in because he's a very good defensive player, not one year negative defensive plus minus in his entire career. Those three are the opposite.
Still can use an athletic defensive big and wing.
Resigning Kornet is crazy, why?
I'm just left with so many questions. Our coach likes to play as big as anyone in the NBA and we now have 3 PGs signed for next 3 years to big money, starting level money.
