Hey 4-4 on the season with the MFYs. Where did that come from? Takes some of the sting out of whatever the record is vs the Rays. Give me a win over MFY any day instead. That will help when the Sox tie them in the last game of the year.

One of the best regular season games I've ever seen. Baseball is a better sport than all the other combined.
The Win Probability Story:
.791 1st inning .391 3rd .845 8th .065 9th 1.000 11th
Had we lost this game, it would have been just the 9th worst loss of the season by WPA.
Instead, it's the top win.

It is amazing to think that with Story hurt, it is easy to imagine the Sox have a lineup that features Dalbec, Arroyo, franchy, JBJ, and Verdugo (if CVaz sits, throw in Plawecki)… all negative bWAR. I’m not even complaining… it is what it is, but I am curious (and lazy) — do any other contenders have more than half their starters in the negatives?

Sorta contending with tons of room for improvement, that’s for sure

Bogey is only slugging .398 in the last month. Where has his power gone? He's been dinged up, particularly around the hands and wrists. He should really take the ASG off but Boras is going to insist that he go.
EDIT: He also got spiked at 2B last week and required stitches and continues to play every day...

Nesn is hot garbage. They need to overhaul the entire operation As one who only sees games on NESN when he visits his Mom, you should just shut up. NESN is better than most. You should get upstairs more often...

Honestly, what’s the record if they have a legitimate guy for the 9th inning instead of this Russian roulette nonsense? At least 5 wins right? It was 5 a long time ago when I stopped counting...

If as a fan I have to sacrifice Xman for Devers . I will do it. I can’t imagine letting Devers go.

Yankees look very beatable. May not be us, but I’ll take anyone. Agreed. I'm going to check on HOU's odds to win it all...

I like the idea of giving X the Correa deal and maybe that buys enough time to keep Raffy in the fold.

Correa is 27 and has opt outs so when he finally does decide to take his big time presumably final deal he'll still only be 28-29. Even if he plays out the full contract he's 30 and probably still gets a 6+ year deal. I can't see xandy looking at the Correa deal as a template to follow since he doesn't have the same youth advantage. He likely wants to cash in for his final big contract for 6+ years not 3 with opt outs.

Thank you for subscribing to Bobby Dalbec Facts! Did you know that Bobby Dalbec has 791 career plate appearances and a lower bWAR total than the average major league batboy? Please reply STOP to opt out.Nice rip there Bobby <3 Oh would that I could.
It was lots of fun to have not seen the game, read through this page of the thread, see 1,100 anti-Dalbec comments in a row, and then check the game log...
I don't understand why we can't all agree that Dalbec has been somewhat subpar without it leading to these two-minute hate rituals. Anyway, here's some more Dalbec facts: he has a 107 wRC+ over the past two months. 102 since the beginning of June. 106 since the beginning of July.
ADD: And knowing the outcome made page 7 of this thread a lot of fun.

No Trevor Story again today. Dalbec (he of the homer and single last night) out, Franchy (.167AVE/.222OBP/.286SLG over the last 15 games), JBJ (.167/.200/.250 over the same period and Duran back in. That bottom of the line-up is a black hole with negative WAR.

I would love to bat him and Duran in the top two spots and have them wreak havoc on the bases.

.129 .182 .161 that is JBJ in the last month. Why haven't they done anything to address it?

If we are going to let X walk then we need to go pay Soto 500 million for 15 years and call it a day lol.

If he maintains his current 7-ish fWAR pace, he should go for the big payday. If he falters or gets injured, he might do well to take a Correa deal, which would give him three more bites at the 6-7 WAR apple, which would trigger an opt-out and a longer payday. He would also be banking some serious cash while he tries.
