I had a feeling that after Zayas, Jones would be signing. What a class. Also, let the campaign begin to add a second FCL team.

Off topic but do the FCL guys get pizza parties with undefeated weeks like the DSL teams? The organization might need to up the pizza budget next year with DSL Blue and this year's HS draftees playing at the complex.

I was actually talking about this with one of my friends pre-draft, that I'd love to see the Sox identify guys like this. Young HS talent that want to start their career. I know Jones isn't exactly the sexiest prospect but young HS talent can always give you something to dream on.

Kind of off topic, but have thought for years, like since the team moved to Ft Myers for ST and then started the FCL team, why not spend the money on an older, in distress hotel that has gone under, or build some type of dormitory style housing option for the people they have in Ft Myers, single guys that is. It would be an excellent expenditure and help mostly young kids not making much and many not used to a new culture be all in one group.

I believe they used the dorms at Lowell back in the Spinners era.

I may be adding things up wrong here but I can imagine a scenario where Rodgers, Merideth, and Dean don't break the bank and the Sox still have 250K + 125K to throw at another HS guy. Kilen is a pipe dream I assume but is Sanders signable???
It would be nice, because if theres' one thing this system needs right now it's a young SS.

For real, they’re gonna need one at this point We want another box score to monitor dammit! With a 180-player domestic reserve limit, it gets REALLY tenuous. Look at the team they have right now. They could certainly have 2 full outfields and something close to 2 rotations, and they have the catching, but they would have a very difficult time finishing games pitching wise and the infield would be stretched very thin (although maybe not so much anymore with the draftees...).

Might not be too hard to find a reasonable way to splash 200k around in the expanded UDFA market with only 20 rounds. Has any UDFA got over 125k leaguewide this year?
Most likely one of the draftees expected to sign is gonna get that extra money though I would guess.

I don't think I've seen any reporter so far. I've seen only 4 total HS players sign as UDFAs, one is Zayas, and 2 by the Royals w a HS player from PR and another from Canada, and the Phillies signed a HSer from California, looks like all 4 got $125k

Why haven’t we seen more signings? Isn’t the deadline Monday, August 1?

One of my favorite site features. Didn't think about it at the time, but pretty surprised Nick Lucky didn't get drafted anywhere.

Very excited by this, but wonder if this gives us any tea leaves into what is or isn't happening with someone like Brannon. We'll know soon enough.

Because it's not Monday yet. Thanks for the snark. As if I don’t get enough at work. Or home. It was a question that gets asked a lot, every year and if pay attention to yearly deadline signings would notice many are signed and sealed after team FO's decide to announce at the last few minutes, like sometimes after the cutoff.

Wasn't being snarky. Simple question. Gave a simple answer.

Only $19k under slot, which means they've got $1,498,050 in savings (not including the 5 percent overage).
