Ho hum - another night, another big Bruins win against a really good team. Easier to endure the Patriots and Red Sox issues when the Bs and the Cs are playing lights out!

And they add a Zacha extension to the evening. 4x4.75

And they add a Zacha extension to the evening. 4x4.75 Eh. He seems to have a real ability to miss scoring chances. He's an okay player all around but he really fans on open shots and fails to generate much on that end.

On the "glass half full" side:
1. He's still on a pace to score close to 50 pts this season despite that. 2. He's close to a 40 PPY player (and clearly so over the last 4)
That puts him COMFORTABLY in the 3rd line, could be a 2nd liner when needed (as has been his role) category. Which brings me to . . .
3. I think you're going to find, as the cap goes up, that's right around or even low market value for that type of player
Also
4. On point #1, part of that pace includes 40 assists. That, as one metric, is 2nd line C material. Now granted, dishing out assists isn't the ONLY measure of a 2nd line player (and some of that pace is driven by having the best goal scorer on your line for much of the year) but we have NOBODY that resembles a 2nd line C on this roster for the future.
I think we'll see this as a very good deal, despite Zacha's CURRENT blemishes.

Guy also wants to be here, his girl is from the area and he’s trained with a lot of the guys in the off-season up here even before being dealt here.
Versatile player. Responsible. Just can’t buy a goal at times lol
Glad he’s here long term.

The only issue is you need every peony to sign Paata. And are Bergeron and Krejci coming back? If not it'll likely cost a lot to replace them.
Just not sure I'd be spending that much on a guy who's got fewer Goals than anyone else in the top 3 lines (by a fairly wide margin).
But he's a young player. Hopefully he keeps developing.

I have a feeling Bergeron keeps going. That’s not anything more than a hunch. Not sure about DK The money will be there for Pasta, I have a lot of faith in Evan Gold. Cap whiz. Pasta’s agent says progress has been made in the last month and they’ve never really had an issue re-upping guys they make a priority. Only guy I can think of is Dougie Hamilton but he just flat out didn’t want to be here. Zacha is also first in 5 on 5 assists on the team. He’s a ~50 point guy. Not a lot of 50 point guys making less than 4.75

Yeah. You have every penny for Pasta. That's not a concern.
Now, is there a chance of losing depth? Sure. But we know Grzelcyk, Forbort and Reilly will not be on the books. So that helps. Not sure about PB and DK. Will they come back? And on what terms? Legit questions.

Zacha feels like celebrating. Assisted on 1st goal and then just hit a crazy "flying" one-timer to score B's 2nd.
After further review, it was more "falling afterwards" than "flying" but still a bomb!

Someone should have told Zacha that the the time to go on a scoring binge is *before* you negiotiate your new deal.

Wow what can I say just wow. Krejci 1000 game. Swayman shutout and earned. The Czech line kicking azz. Total beat down that team was demoralized.
I don’t know what’s going to happen at the trade deadline but if the top talent stays . They take some pressure off of the front office. I def think there like 3 kids that can help very soon

So, I'll accept thanks for the reverse jinx on Zacha's goal scoring.
You're welcome.

Which I referred to. To be clear, I don't hate the signing or anything. But he's just a decent player at this point. With this signing, it looks like the Bruins will have about $60 mil committed for next year, plus the bonuses Bergeron and Krejci get, which carry over. The cap is expected to be under 85 mil. So, now the team has in the area of 20 mil, with Pastrnak not signed, no 1st or 2nd line center, plus a number of other players who need to be signed or replaced (Swayman, Clifton, Frederic, Nosek, Foligno, Smith). That looks like a nightmare. And I'm just not sure I'd have spent near 5 mil of the available space on Zacha.

With a flat cap, they are projected to have around 15M. But that includes all 3 of Reilly, Forbort and Gryz.
I'd be shocked if all 3 make it past the deadline but at least 1 will be gone next offseason.
Assuming an 11M hit for Pasta, it'll be tight to re-sign Freddy and Sway but there are moves they can make and they'll have to fill the 4th line and 3rd pair with cheap player. But isn't that the way it should be?

If we win it all Krejci I'm sure would retire and I think Bergeron is likely to as well. Zacha is part of the building blocks not just for next season but beyond. I hope the rumors about landing one more piece (Horvat) are true as it potentially could help this year and beyond especially if both Bergeron and Krejci retire after this year. That'd be a huge hole to fill.

There are plenty of things they can do to have space for Pasta and Frederic. Swayman will likely get a cheapish bridge deal. Hell Freddy probably will too
Evan Gold is one of the smartest guys in the league when it comes to the cap. Half the league will be in a worse spot than us….but with less talent
Clifton will probably be their biggest loss this off-season

Yes the defense is activated. 2-1.
This will never happen but u have to admit very creative. So Sweeney makes no deals at deadline instead use to kids to give the team an extra boost. Promote Lysell bottom 6 job. Get his feet wet. Then when college hockey is done sign Lotrei from Ohio state and give him a taste on the big club on defense . This answers any questions. Take care in house.
