Boy Smart couldn’t take another night off?

Rebounding numbers not good - Williams missed on a night like this. Turnover bug returning too. Some really ugly lines in the box store as the end of the third Q approaches. Jayson is having his 4th off night in a row. Horford nightmare night. White suddenly non-existent.

Brogdon leading the way...within shouting distance. Not over yet.
well, maybe it is. They had a spurt - then turnovers and poor shooting hit again

Clown show performance tonight. This is such a bad Bulls team and they’ve given away two games against them.

What an absolute nightmare night for Horford.
9 more turnovers for the Js. Yuck.
thankfully that's over - turnovers, bad shooting - and scoreless Horford, and aside from Brodgon, nothing from the bench. I guess they had to get that out of their system - but...why can't they beat the Bulls?

Not gonna win all of them, just have to regroup next time out
They have a hard time with Vucevic without Timelord

The White trade was an overpay and a 2028 pick swap is risky. Yet I get why Stevens did it, he's like adding another Smart with more offense. Frankly I question the Brogdon move more given Pritchard and his D. Great depth, yet not a perfect fit. Theoretically, Brogdon should be a great fit for this team. Need to see how it is at the end of the year. Maybe White will be even better this year with a full year, but he hurt them in the finals and having a guy like Brogdon would have really helped a lot. We'll see, yet bad D gets exposed in playoffs and Brogdon hasn't looked good. The biggest issue for me in playoffs was no true PG to run the offense that can create. So you against good defensive teams have to use Tatum and Brown. That exposes their weaknesses. Brogdon is like Smart, not that he's not a good passer. He's just not athletic enough to blow by guys on the regular and collapse a D, opening up things for other players. Now I'll admit maybe he's a good enough scorer that teams doubling and triple teaming Tatum and Brown as they drive get killed for doing that. We've seen some proof of that already. Yeah he's likely your third best iso scorer. It's his D, can you play him 30 plus minutes a night in playoffs? Can he be good enough to take pressure off of Tatum and Brown? Those 3 have usage rates combined that's almost 90%. Whites offense comes and goes, yet he's a great defender, a team player in the mold of Smart. I wish he'd drive more, he's really good at it. Yet that's the other knock on Brogdon, you really can't play Smart, White and Brogdon big minutes together. Pritchard doesn't even play when all three are healthy. Just not the perfect pairing in my book. Yet maybe just sheer talent wins out.

Dallas tonight I think Tatum is hurting. Hopefully a bounce back.
Tatum is perfectly built for the NBA. he’s 6’10’ . Not small framed but not too much muscle either.

That’s was all ball. That’s what I mean the other teams get easy buckets and the foul. But the Celtics never get the bucket and the foul. Rarely.
I don’t get it, I see Tatum when he goes inside beats his defender and gets the bucket but he is never fouled? The other end anybody they get inside and they get the bucket and a foul like on Horford. I wonder if they collect stats on that.
Finally J.Brown got a bucket and a foul.
I friggin love the energy

My favorite stats for the first half - Jayson 1, Jaylen 0 turnovers. 24 rebounds for the Celts vs 15 for the Mavs. 18 assists vs 5 assists.
They flushed something in the Bulls game and are back to Celtics basketball.
Now they have to finish - bring it in the second half.

At least the C’S got there mojo back. Luka is killing it for the Mavs but you know what that hurts them no one else established themselves.
JTatum looking good.

I am so, so glad we have the Js. They play together just fine, thank you. I hope we get to see these two up close for many years.
I've grown to love Mazzulla's approach with time outs - letting the team work through some rough patches.

Doncic himself said the J’s are the best duo in basketball. I think tonight demonstrated that.
Tatum is a high end #1 option and JB is a high end #2 option
Tatum is top 3 in basketball with Giannis and Luka imo. And he’s easily the most well-rounded of the 3. Zero weaknesses in his game, where Giannis can’t shoot all that well and Luka isn’t a good defender. Find me one thing Jayson can’t do at this point now that he’s getting to the line. You can’t!

Tatum had no weaknesses, but in a weird way he has no one go to dominant move offensively. Would a high end number 2 automatically be a low end number 1? Luka is so good offensively that it’s hard to say he’s not top 3 but he’s so bad defensively that it’s an insult to guys who play 2 ways… what would Embiids numbers be if he played no defense and just hunted rebounds and saved all energy for offense?

So Tatum was questionable last night which means he’s banged up, which means it’s fully justified, in todays NBA, for him to sit and take the night off. He didn’t want to so he played and he played 37 minutes. I don’t know that this is a good thing, but he’s a gamer and plays hurt. He doesn’t want to take games off. He’s a throwback, which I respect and I think that mentality and drive has more positives to it than negatives.

It does concern me that Tatum and Brown are playing more minutes a game than in their entire careers... essentially 37 per game. Horford is at 32 minutes..at close to 36, years of age. Oooff. At some point fatigue becomes a factor...not to mention increased prospect of injury. Last year the players mentioned being drained in the playoffs. I hope we ease off on those guys. Vonleh and Griffin aren't seeing the light of day. If not, whither Kabengele?...at least until Timelord can amp up.
As good as Tatum has become, his 3 point shooting is only average at 35% and has declined over his career. Grant Williams seemingly can disappear in games....and he is looking for big bucks. It appeared that his offensive game had evolved still further beyond stand and shoot from the corners, but not much going on some nights.

I think no to the high end #2 being a low end #1 but there is no answer to a question like that it's more of a preference than a fact to each individual. That said Brown is 1B to Jason's 1A. EDIT: BTW Rob Williams is participating in 3 on 3's right now and is on track to be back by Christmas. I nice present for us all.

Jaylen has regressed every year as a defender. It’s wild.
