One of Jaylen Brown’s remaining bugaboos—just not good enough from the line.

There's a very real chance Philly catches us in the next 2 weeks if we don't pull our heads out of the place where the sun don't shine.

Celtics OT offense was watch Jayson dribble. Went completely away from how they caught up in the 4th.

This team really miss Marcus Smart Definitely. He's not only our best playmaker but a floor general on both sides of the ball. Underrated and unspoken "captain" of the ship in my opinion.

Is there where we pretend that wasn’t a pathetic loss? And that this team doesn’t still have some insanely bad habits?

Is there where we pretend that wasn’t a pathetic loss? And that this team doesn’t still have some insanely bad habits? Yes, they are 2.5 games up in the east. If you are panicking you are Stuart little. Would it be great if they had won? Sure. Don’t really care that much. They’re banged up and it’s January But we know your schtick so keep bashing them and calling them pathetic when they’re 35-15. Totally looks good on you.

No one’s panicking here, but the same bad habits that did them in last year seem to be creeping back. They were also down just one starter yesterday, so blaming that loss on injuries is just excuse making.

"Celtics rank 22nd in the league in offensive rating since early December -- a stretch of 24 games during which Boston has gone 14-10, the seventh-best record in the Eastern Conference over that span."
Trends do matter. Frankly, the team isn't much fun to watch lately - repeating same issues we've seen last few years, esp playing down to competition and being sloppy.
Good quote from the coach “It was a hard-fought game for the most of it,” Mazzulla said. “But great teams know why they’re good and why they’re good all the time. We just can’t take possessions or time in the game for granted and I didn’t think we played consistently the entire game — physical, connected, detailed basketball. When we turned it on, we really did. And so we just have to do that all the time.”
Exactly

good article soxfansince67. I also think CDJ is right they should go after that big from the spurs. But the one thing all season that bothers me is the free throw shooting. Not just last night I seen it time and time again. It drives me nuts. Tatum is getting the calls finally but leaving points out there. For a big Timelord is a good free throw shooter. He gives up the ball real quick. Imagine having another timelord.

Is it sensitive or are you just becoming tiresome talking about how pathetic they are after every January loss when they’re the best team in the East? Schticks are at least supposed to be funny.

Is there where we pretend that wasn’t a pathetic loss? And that this team doesn’t still have some insanely bad habits? Unlike cdj, I really do appreciate the schtick, but it should be noted that yesterday was the 3rd game in 4 nights and those are hard as f*ck to win. They sent it to overtime which was great and by all means they had a great shot to win it. Brown and Tatum just didn't have it and they played like ass down the stretch. Tired legs.

Too many 3 point shots, 46 percent of the shots were from deep. Way too high given the scorers they have. Horford 35 minutes, White 28 minutes and G. Williams 22 minutes, 0-6 on two point shots. That's embarrassing. Tatum, Brown and Brogdon 5-22 on 3 point shots.
Our coach has got to get more ball movement and opportunities for guys taking easy two point shots. Think the Heat, they have been great at that for years. He also has to increase bench minutes when you play a bunch of games in 4 days.
I feel this is a good thing, they had problems when they were winning. It was just masked by unreal 3 point shooting

Is it lack of Marcus? The team is simply out of sync offensively, and when they chuck up and miss 3s, they get weak on D. They got up by a bunch, then the offense went back to the ball sticking for too long. And man, those turnovers.
I don't know if Tatum is banged up or tired, but he's just playing sloppy. At the half - 2 for 9, including 0 for 4 from three.
They are 3 of 17 from 3 as the first half comes to a close - they just don't drive in and kick - and when they do drive in, they miss chippies.

Here’s my working theory about this team.
Tatum’s biggest issue is between his ears. When he was a kid, his father was physically and emotionally abusive in public when he wouldn’t play well. So when things start to fall apart, Jayson kind of shits his pants.
Jaylen is an amazing play finisher. But when Jayson loses flow and begins forcing the issue, Jaylen begins possession without any advantage and that’s when you see his inability to create lead to turnovers and bad possessions.
This team has been doing this clogged toilet offense thing for years now and it’s already cost them two opportunities at championships.

Good comment made during the half time show - the way to beat the Celts right now is play slow. Celts score best when they are playing fast and getting into the offense quickly. Jayson dragging his butt bringing the ball up, standing and telegraphing passes just lets the D get set.
So - they are in a tough spell right now - a bit tired, a lot banged up, missing their point guard. Jaylen and Jayson are slumping a bit. This right here is where an experienced coach may be more helpful.
Mazzulla just said he is unhappy with their spacing, and their discipline on the offensive end. Mazzulla is pissed off.

Tatum sucking continues into the 3Q. Now missing layups. Lakers nailing 3s. Tatum, Horford and Brown are all -10 or worse at this point. Lebron is torching the team.
Jayson, hero ball, turnover, gives up an easy jam. This is getting ugly.
Tatum drives obviously into Brown Jr - offensive foul. Of course. Celtics are now just playing stupid.

Tatum needs to grow up. He needs to shut up. Maybe he does get fouled and it doesn't get called here and there - but don't stop and start jawing and lose playing D. Same with Grant Williams. Grow up and shut up and play.
Now the Celts are playing better D, moving on O and playing faster and mostly caught up.
Lakers with 22 assists vs 9 for the Celtics late 3Q

I count at least 3 layups missed by Tatum - instead of jamming easy dunks, he tries to finesse layups - and his touch is absent right now
And again. Go strong and jam the ball, damn it! Tatum has got to stop this playing for the fouls.
