On to the playoffs - 538 has the Celts as a 23 percent chance to win it all, with the Bucks (20) and Sixers (16) just behind.
You gotta play the games. I can't wait. Hoping for defensive intensity, lots of well chosen 3s, a controlled Smart, focused Tatum, in control but aggressive Brown, and lots of White and Brogdon, a rested Horford and healthy Williams.
Bring on the games.

The Celtics have turned blowing leads into an art.

Some outright amazing moments from Horford and Smart at the end, but I’m baffled by how they played the game after they got the lead to 32 in the third. You don’t get to go home early guys, don’t flat out STOP playing. This should have been garbage time with 7 minutes left in the 4th.
Oh well. Some goddamn championship ball in the first half though. Ball movement and defense were awesome. I’m just puzzled they decided to take the second half off.

It’s almost laughable how entitled this team plays with a lead. It will be fully laughable if they win the whole thing, and sad if they don’t.
This team is unbeatable if they are focused and selfless.

This team is unbeatable if they are focused and selfless. Please watch the special about the 86 Celtics team on NESN a team many claim is the best of all time. The players talked about losing games or large leads that they shouldn't have and speculated they'd become bored etc. It can be human nature when you are dominating and you are also expecting to play in the Finals or at least the Semi's in this case.

The crazy thing to me is people acting like they blew the lead and let the hawks back into it.
No! No they did not! At no point were they in any danger! Like what are we even doing here, there’s far more negativity out of a blowout win than anything else and that’s kinda sad tbh
Oh wow the hawks went on a run (which pretty much every team does in every game) and cut it to within 12! The horror!

The horror! The Hawks run yesterday was cute, but there wasn’t even a second yesterday where it felt like they’d get back in the game. The Celts do need to be better closing quarters. It won’t matter much this series against an Atlanta team that doesn’t want to play defense, but it could hurt them in future series.

It’s almost as if people never watched the NBA before. You hardly ever hold or extend 30 point leads in basketball.

Exactly. It’s a league of runs. If you’re up 30 all that means is that you’ll still be up big when the other team inevitably has their run.
Bad teams have less of these runs than good teams. They also don’t make the playoffs.
Holding the Hawks to under 100 points is a huge W

Super enjoyable first half. The second half letdown was inevitable. I don't mind missed shots. I'm not as fond of some of the super careless turnovers. But...great win!

That will cost them a championship against a better team.

Yeah every team does runs, losing two straight quarters as you score only 38 points in the 2nd half isn't just the Hawks going on a run. It's the Celtics offense shutting down, an issue for years. Why they got Brogdon and he wasn't good. I don't worry about the Hawks one bit, I do worry about our offense shutting down for a half and 16 turnovers!

That part is frustrating, and the patterns are obvious - the ball starts sticking more, players stop moving, and the turnovers and bad shots increase. Everyone can see it coming when it happens. It’s time for Joe to recognize it quicker in the playoffs.

Ja hurts his hand and can't unroll socks, AD inevitably went out (but did come back and dominate), Giannis out for rest of G1 with a back contusion, Herro broke his hand. Cursed day today, glad we played yesterday!
Hoping we can avoid the "one bad quarter" that over the past 2 years turned wins into loses or dominations into rockfights. Otherwise, G1 went as well as possible for the C's.

Totally not a predictable run by the Hawks here.
Someone wake Mazzulla up.
